4 Trade Agreements ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) - lowering of intra-regional tariffs through Common Effective Preferential Tariff (CEPT) Scheme to bring more than 99% of products of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand down to the 0% - 5% tariff range. Goods pass from Dawei through 160Km highway into Thailand via Phu Nam Ron border. Dawei deep sea port will shorten travel time from Europe and Middle East to South East Asia and China. Port Rail Build a Pak Bara port is approved. Plan to upgrade Songkhla port to the same level as Laem Chabang. Plan to build a 130Km railway linking Pak Bara port to Hat Yai, the largest city and commercial centre in Southern Thailand. Hat Yai is only 30Km by rail to Songkhla Port. East West Economic Corridor (EWEC) (2008) 1,450Km from Mawlamyine Myanmar at Andaman Sea Myawaddy / Mae Sot border crossing into Thailand Mukdahan- Savannakhe t border crossing into Laos Dansavanh / Lao Bao border crossing into Vietnam Along Route R9 to end in Da Nang in South China Sea Value of trades among Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam due to this corridor is estimated to be over USD0.5Bn from West to East, and USD1.0Bn from East to West. 15 North South Economic Corridor (NSEC) (2012) Western Subcorridor: Kunming Chiang Rai Bangkok via Laos or Myanmar Central Subcorridor: Kunming Ha Noi Hai Phong connects to Highway No. 1 from North to Southern Viet Nam Eastern Subcorridor: Nanning Ha Noi via Youyi Pass or Fangchenggang Dongxing / Mong Cai route. NSEC links Kunming to Bangkok, Kunming to Hanoi, and Hanoi to Nanning, and is over 1,850Km.
