4 3 After evacuating all the refugees to Loh Loe the three Mon refugee camps namely Baleh Nhook, Panung Htaw and Krone Kung were closed on 15 t'1ay The building of makeshift rereral hospital... ith the support of M. S.F is being built in Loh Loe while the number of patients increase with an alarming ra te due mainly to the change of... eather from season. Especial ly it is very important and indeed is greatly needed, to dry season to ra iny have the necessary medicines connected with malaria in time, as these are always in shortage, in order to be able to control the increa se of death rate in all camps. Two primary and one high schools are also being built. The school buildings are constructed mainly of thatch, bamboo and wood. Thatch S to be transported from Sangkhlaburi as the availability of thatch is difficult near the camp. n order to have a clean drinkio;j water in the. camp.r.c is taking the responsibility of sanitation. 20 concrete sealed wells are being dug. Rice, fish-pa s te and salt for consuming ror the whole rainy sea son have been recently stock piled in the warehouses of all camps except Par Mark the trasportation orwhich is in great difficu'lty due main ly to the lack of vichicle. However, M.N.R.C is trying it's best to ticiisp:d the needed rice, fish-paste, salt and other things to Par Mark camp in time before the heavy rain falls as the weather still permits for some days ahead. Since evacuation took place the \,hole camp was busy with clearing the new site, bliilding shelter and roads and digging wel ls and lat irnes. The population of Loh Loe is now reahing around ten thousand. So, arrangement for sanitation, medical treatment, educat ion a oj administration of the ca mp is to be solved with great care. n doing so the cooperai~"l based on humanitarianism of the nternational Refugee Relief )rganisations and of Thai Go ernment is a necessity. A total of 838 deported persons \>"ere handed over to M.N.R.C in the month of April Oil May 1992 by the District office of Sangkhlaburi. These people included, Mon, Burmese, yist, and Muslim. Regard le ss of nationality M.N.R.C pro vides shelter and food to those who trocble coming to join the camp because of the persecution of the Military Junta of Burma. 7 6 M ED CAL RE PORT t was in the month of April that the Mon refugees from the three refugee camps in Sangkhlaburi District, namely, Baleh Nhook,Panung Htaw and Krone Kung had to move to a new site called Loh Loe. The change of weather, the scarcity of fresh water and staying temporarily in the o~en air for many days without shelter and systematic sanitation before the makeshift huts were built, made the people vulnerable to suffer various kinds of diseases. n the month of May 1992 the ho spital of Loh Loe recorded B dead with a large number of indoor patients. At the time when this medical report was being written the hospital was crowded with patients with an alarming rate. Medicines are greatly insuff icient. The value of quarterly support of medicine by M. S.F should be n:reased in comparison with the ratio of the patients in the camps.
