5 3 A HEARTFELT CONGRATULATON 10 THE 'vvnner OF NOBLE PEACE PRZE,1991 The Mon National Relief Committee feel very happy and encourud to hear the great news of Dow Aung San Suu Kyi,a brave democratic leader who has been st ill under house or res t for over two years by the military junta of Burma, won the Noble Peace Prize. n fact it is not only a personal victory for Daw Aung Sa'll Suu Kyi but it it> ctlso GL victory for the whole democratic force fighting dauntlessly against the militarist Dictatorship, whether the. form of struggle is violence or non violence in order to establish democracy, peace, and racial equality in Burma. Stretagically speaking the military junta of Burma, which still stubbornly re,fuses to hand over the power to legitimade government, lost the game since 23 July 1988 at the time when the strong man Ne Win resigned from his post. But the generuls in Burma refused to accept the eventual downfall of the system of the militarist Dictatorship in Burma as well as in the world and are not yet ready to adapt themselves to the reality of Burma politically. That is why they foolishly try hard to defend their downfall tact ically. Hitler did the same thing in the second wortd war. But. in the end> he and his followers had simply to accept the reality of the social development of the world. The generals in Burma should realize about this event. There is very little time left for them to correct their unpardonable mistakes done in the post and present. The M.N.R.C fully supports the following statement of the nternational ople Forum issued on 17 October _ Revocation of Burma's membership from the World Bank and the nternational rvbnetary Fund until a transfer of power to the government of Burma. 2 _ mmediate suspension of all United Notions progrummes in Burma. legitimate 3 - Re _e\gluation of Burma's status as a least _ developed country because of the" Government deliberate doctoring of the contrys income figures." 4 Recognition of refugee status f<x all Burmese fugitives in Thailand by the Thai Government. 5 _ Rejection of the Thai nterior Ministry's plan to intern Burmese f ugi tives in a camp. 8 6 MEDCAL REPORT n order to improve the health _ care of the refugees it is necesg)ry to upgrade t he Krone Kung hospital as a referral hospital of the M, N.R.C We believe that much progress can be 'made for the refugees by buildirq an intermediate level hospital in Krone Kung ca mp which is situated rn a junction road accessible both to land and waterway.
