1 FOUNDATION 2017 Annual Report
2 FOUNDATION An Update from the Chairman Kfi Foundation Chairman Jamie Kilcoyne The Kfi Foundation (the Foundation) fulfilled its mission in 2017 of improving our community and world by assisting those in need. We had another successful year providing food, clothes and necessities to the homeless in Colorado, taking kids from broken families out for special activities, helping children and families in medical crisis and spending time with a very special group of adults with disabilities. You can find details about our 2017 activities on the following pages. The Kfi Team continues to contribute financially in addition to donating many hours of their time participating in the numerous community service activities planned throughout the year. I am so proud of my team for the time they have given to our outreach programs. The Kfi Foundation is unique in that it has no overhead expenses and very minimal administrative expenses. All manpower and most administrative tasks are donated by Kfi employees. Therefore, nearly 100% of contributions to the Foundation go directly to our programs and to fulfilling our mission. A special thank you to Heather Kilcoyne for organizing all of our community service events during 2017 and shopping for the food, crafts and other items that were required for the events. Heather is an invaluable part of the Foundation and puts in many hours behind the scenes to make sure our events are successful. The Foundation serves as an important mechanism to help Kfi employees fulfill their responsibility to the community, prioritize their actions and be responsible business people and citizens. One of the intangible contributions that our team makes when we are hosting community service events is to truly reach out and make the people we are serving feel special. This is generally accomplished by simply talking to them and expressing interest in them. We touched the lives of hundreds of people during 2017 with these actions. We look forward to continuing and expanding our programs in If you would like to get involved, please call me at We are also thankful to our clients and business partners who have contributed to the Foundation over the years and appreciate their continued support in With your assistance, we are truly making a difference in our community. Thank you for your interest. Jamie Kilcoyne Chairman
3 Serving the Community February and August Foundation Events at There With Care The Kfi Team held its February and August 2017 community service events at There With Care (TWC). This was our 5th edition of funding and preparing Cleaning Supply Buckets and Easy Meal Care Bags for TWC. TWC s mission is to provide a wide range of thoughtful and fundamental services to children and families during the critical phase of a medical crisis. A common example is a child who has been diagnosed with cancer. This tragic event can devastate the family, so every bit of help they can get is important. Easy Care Meal Bags and Cleaning Supply Buckets are just a small part of the support that TWC provides the families. They also help drive the children to chemo and doctor appointments, deliver groceries and meals to the families and help in any other way necessary. Our Cleaning Supply Buckets are delivered to families in such a crisis and include a variety of materials to ensure that the household is kept sterile and clean during the child s recovery. Kfi Hosts March 2017 Community Service Event with Mt. Saint Vincent Home (MSV) The Kfi Team hosted its March 2017 community service event with Mt. Saint Vincent Home (MSV). MSV is a Denver, Colorado-based treatment center for children aged 5 to 12 who face severe behavioral and emotional challenges due to trauma, mental illness, abuse, or neglect. The event was a Safari Party that included lessons about many different reptiles and other exotic animals. The kids from MSV were able to touch and hold many of the animals that attended the party, including a tarantula, bearded dragon, geckos, a corn snake, a ball python, a blue tongue skink, a water dragon and the main attractions: a giant red tailed boa constrictor and a wallaby. Many of the kids, including our very own Ian McGee, confronted and conquered their fears by holding the snakes. We also were introduced to a scorpion that glowed in the dark. The party was a huge success! Bowling Party with Roundup Fellowship In July 2017, the Kfi Foundation hosted a bowling and pizza party with one of our favorite organizations, Roundup Fellowship. Roundup is dedicated to providing a genuine community alternative to people with conditions such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and autism.
4 Serving the Community Kfi Foundation Sponsors Fundraiser for Haiti The Kfi Foundation sponsored a fundraising event in May to help a local non-profit group. Colorado Haiti Project s mission is to work in partnership with rural Haitian communities to support their rise out of extreme poverty. They operate with a small staff in Colorado and a host of dedicated volunteers and interns. In Haiti, CHP works in partnership with the Haitian Episcopal Diocese and the Haitian people, to achieve developmental goals that lift communities out of extreme poverty by increasing access to and capacity for foundational educational opportunities, clean water, community and public health, job training and economic self-sufficiency. With the Kfi Foundation s sponsorship (which was used to purchase food and beverages for the event), CHP raised $4,035 which will be used to support projects in Haiti. The event was a huge success and raised a great deal of awareness in addition to money. Kfi Hosts its Annual Halloween Party with Roundup Fellowship In October 2017, the Kfi Team and Kfi Foundation hosted our 6th annual Halloween party with Roundup fellowship. This has become one of our favorite community service events, as we have developed friendships over the years with the amazing folks at Roundup. We started the party with Halloween arts and crafts, ate pizza and then completed the event with the Halloween dance-off. Kfi Team Serves up Breakfast and Good Cheer at Urban Peak The Kfi Team wrapped up the community service year in December 2017 at Urban Peak s Drop-in Center, serving breakfast to Denver youth experiencing homelessness. We donated and served 125 breakfast burritos, fruit, juice, chocolate milk, granola bars and yogurt. The Kfi Foundation sponsored the event and the Kfi Team provided the man power! We also formed an assembly line before the breakfast started and made brown bag lunches that will be delivered to youth on the streets of Denver by Urban Peak s Outreach program. Throughout 2017, we served breakfast 4 times at the Drop-in Center.
