In the 1920s, Berlin was regarded as the most modern metropolis in Europe - but it was also a hotbed of crime. The First World War is over, the German Empire has become the Weimar Republic. The economy is in ruins. Poverty, misery, violence and crime dominate Berlin. The city is in turmoil. Speculation and inflation threaten the foundations of the fledgling republic. Former soldiers struggle to find a foothold in the new society, greed and prostitution are rife. A perfect breeding ground for crimes of all kinds. During the early years of the Weimar Republic, two mass murderers terrorized the capital. One of them targeted young lovers, the other was given the nickname 'the Beast of Berlin' and preyed on women. It took the police years to identify and convict the perpetrators. Ernst Gennat, head of the criminal police, pioneered new methods of systematic forensic investigation and profiling, making his division one of the world's leading homicide squads. The two-part documentary uses criminal cases to paint a picture of Berlin during the Weimar Republic, reconstructing events with the help of documentary photographs from 1918 to 1933, interviews with experts and case files. 02:00 DW News - News 02:02 The Day - News in Review 02:30 Kick off! - The Bundesliga Highlights 03:00 DW News - News 03:02 Business - News 03:15 News Africa E 03:30 Close up - The Current Affairs Documentary 04:00 DW News - News 04:02 The Day - News in Review 04:30 Eco India - The Environment Magazine 05:00 DW News - News 05:02 News Africa E

The world of work is undergoing radical change. Many of us fear we could soon become superfluous. But robotics, automation and artificial intelligence could also bring opportunities. Sooner or later, all jobs will be affected by digitization one way or another. Some experts predict that half of all jobs could even disappear. But not everyone is pessimistic. A fourth industrial revolution is underway, whether we like it not, and there will be winners as well as losers. The Institute for Employment Research in Nuremberg says 4 million people in Germany could already be replaced by machines or computers. In manufacturing and logistics, automation is in full swing. Robots are assisting humans on production lines and in warehouses, while intelligent machines support bank employees, lawyers and car manufacturers. Doctors at the University Hospital in Heidelberg are testing robotics in the operating theatre. Jobs are disappearing but new ones are being created. Computer scientists, software developers and data analysts are in demand. The documentary shows companies embracing new technologies to help them they stay globally competitive and become completely networked; people working side by side with robots in the laboratory and in the factory. The film also takes a look at the industry s rapidly expanding vocabulary, to find out what terms such as Smart Factory, Virtual Reality, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence actually mean. 02:00 DW News - News 02:02 The Day - News in Review 02:30 Global The Globalization Program 03:00 DW News - News 03:02 Business - News 03:15 News Africa E 03:30 Eco-at-Africa - The Environment Magazine 04:00 DW News - News 04:02 The Day - News in Review 04:30 Made in Germany - Your Business Magazine 05:00 DW News - News

Following years in isolation, Iran has reentered the international stage - which for some is cause for alarm. Tehran is now engaging in dialogue and has agreed to curb its nuclear program. But it is also involved in wars in Syria and Yemen - running the risk of upsetting the sensibilities of old enemies such as Israel, Saudi Arabia and the US. Donald Trump has now ditched the Iran nuclear deal. July 14, 2015 saw the signing of a historic agreement in Vienna that restricted Iran s nuclear program. For the first time since the foundation of the Islamic Republic in 1979 and following years of tension and crises, the deal marked a major thaw in relations between Tehran and the international community. In May 2018, however, US President Donald Trump announced he would be withdrawing from the deal unilaterally - even though co-signatories Russia, China and the EU remain committed to the agreement. The consequences for the Iranian economy, international trade relations and the balance of power in the Middle East remains as yet unclear. Filmed in Iran, in Saudi Arabia and the US, this documentary hears from government representatives and experts in those countries and explains why and how Tehran has continuously consolidated its military and political influence. Does Iran have expansionist ambitions - not just military, but also political and economic? Or is it merely seeking to secure its borders and autonomy, and ward off the crises that are destabilizing the Middle East? The report seeks to unravel the complexities of the conflicts in the region and explain the resurgence of Islamism. Branded part of an "axis of evil by George W. Bush in 2002, Iran has since become a key player in the Middle East. The country now plays a vital role in the fight to defeat the so-called Islamic State. The documentary looks at the factors behind Tehran s strategy for increasing its military and political influence in the Middle East. 02:00 DW News - News 02:02 The Day - News in Review 02:30 Made in Germany - Your Business Magazine 03:00 DW News - News 03:02 Business - News 03:15 News Africa E 03:30 Conflict Zone - Confronting the Powerful 04:00 DW News - News
