1 DALLAS ASSOCIATION OF HEALTH UNDERWRITERS NEWSLETTER January 2016 The Value of your DAHU/TAHU/NAHU membership has just increased! Since the passing of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, brokers and agents have been challenged by a continued onslaught of regulations, interpretations, delays, modifications and requests for comments by agencies. These challenges have appeared at both the Federal and State level. I, too, have been affected by this onslaught. Belonging to the Dallas Association of Health Underwriters has proven extremely valuable to me over the past 6 years. My membership has provided me with an avenue for feedback; and a way to interpret the often unclear guidance. The Association has not only helped me, but it has allowed me to provide expert advice to my clients. Last week, Congress took its first steps toward Repeal and Replace by passing a budget resolution to begin the process known as Reconciliation. Through that process, lawmakers can vote on critical pieces of the health law without giving legislators a chance to filibuster. President Trump enforced this direction by signing an Executive Order for all Federal Agencies which instructs them to minimize the burden of the ACA in any way possible within the law. This executive order was so important to President Trump that he took a break from his inaugural celebration to sign the Order! Once again, DAHU/TAHU/NAHU will be there to help shape future Federal and State regulations and legislation. Your membership is more important than ever as the industry continues to change and demand more of you, you can count on your Association. DAHU will help its members navigate these changes, and help equip us to be valued advisors to our clients. Keep engaged with DAHU attend lunches and other events; and we will keep you informed. Sincerely. Ed Oleksiak, President eoleksiak@holmesmurphy.com Please make plans to attend our March 28 Sales and Technology Symposium! You will hear amazing speakers for a very reasonable price -Ed Oleksiak, DAHU President In this issue: Next Meeting: February 15 January CE Day Photos Save the Dates!
