1 ASNAU SENATE MEETING #20 TWENTY-SEVENTH SESSION OFFICIAL MINUTES Date: April 14 th, 2015 Number on council: 12 Date of Senate Meeting: April 9 th, 2015 Number present: 10 Prepared by Lara Kritz Chairman Nicholas Startt called the Senate meeting of the Associated Students of Northern Arizona University Senate to order at 6:00 P.M. in the Havasupai Room A & B of the University Union. Roll Call Senator Buchta and Senator Pomeroy were not present. Approval of Minutes Motion: Senator Hightower moves to approve the minutes from last week s Senate meeting Second: Senator Emerson Discussion: None Vote: Unanimous, last week s minutes have been approved. Call to the Audience Unfinished Business Motion to Vote: Senator Startt moves to vote on Item A: SB :Monica Heisler - $65 Second: Senator Soto Discussion: The funding would go to reimbursement for a national leadership conference. The funding would only go to the registration fees and the rest will be paid by the student. Vote: Unanimous, Item A: SB :Monica Heisler - $65 has been approved. New Action Business Item A Motion to Vote: Senator Nobis moves to table Item A: SB : Brett Culter and Ben Luginbuhl - $840 Discussion: Presenter not Present.

Cashman - $1,050 Discussion: This is the 2 nd year NAU has attended this event. The topic presented was a new research topic among the community. Vote: Unanimous, Item B: SB : Eion G. Cashman - $1,050 has been approved. Item C Motion to Vote: Senator Nobis moves to table Item C: SB : USITT - $3,500 Discussion: Presenter not Present. Vote: Unanimous, Item C: SB : USITT - $3,500 has been tabled. Item D Motion to Vote: Senator Soto moves to vote on Item D: SB : AISES - $ Second: Senator Emerson Discussion: The president of the native America Indian science, engineering, and mathematics national organization. The funding would cover the costs of the hotel fees to attend a regional and university of Utah conferences. Vote: Unanimous, Item D: SB : AISES - $ has been approved. Item E Motion to Vote: Senator Startt moves to vote on Item E: SB : Lions Club - $1, Second: Senator Hightower Discussion: Asking for funding to help with their lion international fundraiser event. All the money raised will go back into the flagstaff community. The reimbursement money is to be for this years event, but will be spent on the community for next year. Vote: Unanimous, Item E: SB : Lions Club - $1, has been approved. Item F Motion to Vote: Senator Tillinghast moves to vote on Item F: SB : NAU Quidditch Team - $924 Second: Senator Startt

3 Discussion: The reimbursement would be for the world cup in Colorado. It is the third time they have entered the event. The funding would cover the cost for transportation, gas, and hotel. It would also cover some of the costs for the western cup. They have completed several fundraisers and many team players paid for their own flights. Vote to Amend: Senator Hightower moves to amend Item F: SB : NAU Quidditch Team - $924 Second: Senator Startt Amendment: Amend to read $2, Vote to Amend: Unanimous, Item F: SB : NAU Quidditch Team - $2, has been amended. Item G Item H Motion to Vote: Senator Munhall moves to vote on Item G: SB : NAU Quidditch Team - $ Second: Senator Nobis Discussion: See Item F. Vote: Unanimous, Item G: SB : NAU Quidditch Team - $ has been approved. Executive Reports Vote to Amend: Senator Startt moves to amend Item F: SB Second: Senator Silva Amendment: Amend to $3,500 and to add airfare, registration, and lodging. Vote to Amend: Unanimous, Item F: SB has been amended. a. President- Jillian Zuniga - See is looking for some one to sit on the student option survey committee to go over the survey questions. Please reply to the RSVP for the banquet. Sign up to either work the ticket sales or the concert, it is mandatory. The gift they purchased for the president is a very nice engraved desk clock for her office. The university's are discussing tuition amounts due to the budget cuts. There will be a hearing on the 30 th on north campus about tuition costs. Thank to all who participated in last weeks events. Please back up all your files on to the hard drives available. We will not be able to use the i pads this year because they are not ready and they need to be up to university regulation. The Louie awards were great and thanks to all who attended. b. 4 Staff Reports - Diversity week is next week so look out for an with all the dates. Friday is Earth Jam so please attend. The mugs came into and they will be handing them out Friday. Also please update your page to include the new Facebook event. C. Vice President of Academic Affairs- Nicholas Startt - He completed his office hours and attended apropos. He will look into what we have left to fund and select the fallowing senate bills accordingly. d. Vice President of Government Affairs Brittney Simon - No Report e. Chief of Staff- Jared Gorshe - Please sign up for Relay for Life. A. Student State Affairs- Tia Yap, Corey Permann - No Report. B. Public Relations- Richard Trunzo, Kayla Boxberger - No Report C. Special Events- Spencer Carlton, Jeremy Chan -No Report. D. NSG- Ryan Cook, Sara McCaffrey - We won the presidents service award. There is the ice cream social coming up in McConnell hall. There will be a BBQ event in the freshman quad before the band Perry concert. They are looking forward to the banquet at the end of the year. E. Parliamentarian- Amanda Dietlin - Please contact her by or by phone. She will be working her office hours tomorrow. Committee Reports A.
