2 Finance February 2017 Treasurer s Report Revenue $ 51, Conferences & Meetings 48, Dues 2, Interest Subscriptions Expenses $ 13, Management 13, Legal & Professional Fees Finance February Bank Balances Assets California Business Bank 116, First Internet Bank of Indiana 234, Total Assets $350, Action: Media Pass Policy This policy has been revised to further clarify what is considered an open and closed meeting: General public discussions are open to the media such as sessions at the annual conference and meetings with USED when permission is granted. Meetings closed to media include Association business meetings, committee meetings and internal discussions. Action Requested: Renew approval of this policy 2

3 Action: First Focus Campaign for Children First Focus Campaign for Children is working on a potential social media campaign to address how the $12 billion estimate to build a border wall could be better spent on critical children s programs. Association asked to consider providing information for the campaign by calculating how Title I could use an additional $12 billion. Action Requested: Decide whether to provide information and preferred response Action: Event Policy Exemption Requests The Association Events Policy identifies specific rules for obtaining a refund for cancelled conference registration or hotel reservation. Exemption requests have been received from: o Dr. Curtis Alston and Denise Benson requesting conference registration and hotel refunds. o Handwriting without Tears requesting conference hotel refund. o Jordan School District requesting hotel refund for 3 attendees that stayed on the Queen Mary. 4 Membership Update Current Membership Statistics 57 Active Members. Increase of 1 Active Member over February. 89 Associate Members. Increase of 1 Associate Member over February. New York state has joined the Association via Active Member Maxine Meadows-Shuford. Update: Strategic Plan Strategic Plan Association committee meetings took place at the conference as well as in the weeks following. Updates are forthcoming. The Association reorganization was discussed at the Winter General Membership meeting where small groups formed for open discussion. 5 Update Evidence for ESSA Website The Evidence for ESSA website is now live. The website is a free web-based resource that provides easy access to information on programs that meet the evidence standards defined in ESSA. The website is designed for education leaders at the state, district and school levels. Update Association Insurance Policies The Association insurance policies have been renewed for coverage through April 2018: Directors and Officers General Liability Auto Liability Umbrella Update Government Relations Committee The Association s annual membership for the Committee for Education Funding (CEF) has been renewed. CEF is a coalition of education associations that provides a strong and unified voice in support of increasing the federal investment in education. 5
