I001, met in regular session, Monday, October 1, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., at the Pawnee High School Library Media room. Motion to appoint Dr. Gene Evans as acting president in the absence of the president. Motion to appoint Dr. Evans as acting president in the absence of President Suzanne Spears. and 2. Open bids and discussion to vote to accept or not to accept highest bid on the 1997 Suburban. Bids: bids were received and therefore no action was taken. 3. Discussion and possible vote to approve changes in the smoking tobacco, and vaping policies. The board reviewed the following policy: SMOKING/TOBACCO/VAPING POLICY Smoking, distributing, or possessing tobacco or tobacco products, vape smoking devices, or paraphernalia used with tobacco and tobacco products is prohibited on school property, in school vehicles, or at or going to or from any school-sponsored or authorized function.

3 Additionally, students are prohibited from possessing or distributing tobacco products or simulated tobacco products in school buildings, on school grounds, in schoolowned vehicles, and at all school affiliated functions on or off school campus. Site administrators shall inform both students and parents of any violation of this policy. A 1 st offense will result in three (3) days out-of-school suspension (OSS) and ten (10) days in-school suspension (ISS), any additional offense within a school year will result in ten (10) days out-of-school suspension (OSS). Motion to approve the policy change Evans,, and 4. Discussion and possible vote to adjust the adult meal prices for the child nutrition program. Breakfasts and lunches served to teachers, administrators, custodians and other adults must be priced so that the adult payment in combination with any per-lunch revenues from other sources designated specifically for the support of adult meals (such local fringe benefits or funding from voluntary agencies) is enough to cover the overall cost of the lunch, including the value of the commodities used to prepare the meal. The minimum adult payment should reflect the price charged to students paying the school s designated full price, plus the current value commodities, and the bonus for the new meal patterns. To meet these guidelines, the adult meal charges need to be increased to: Lunch=$3.75 Breakfast=$2.50 Motion to increase the adult meal charges to the recommend amount of: Lunch-$3.75 and Breakfast-$2.50 Evans,, and

4 5. Discussion and possible vote to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with Meridian Technology Center concerning academic credit options provided at MTC. Review and possible vote to dismiss school at 1:00 pm on October 17, for an active shooter training for employees. Mr. Williams informed the board that a training session was scheduled for the afternoon of October 17. He said the training session would be filmed for future use. Motion to dismiss school at 1:00 on October 17, for the employee training session. Roll Call Vote Evans,, and 7. Discussion and possible vote on attending the Region 3 OSSBA Meeting. The OSSBA Region 3 meeting will be on Thursday, vember 1. It will be held at Highland Park Elementary School in Stillwater. Board members will receive two credit hours for attending the meeting. One will be for ethics and one will be for new laws. One additional hour of legal credit will be awarded for the pre-meeting workshop. The pre-meeting will be held at the same location from 5:30-6:15 pm. Motion to pass resolution to attend the Region 3 OSSBA Meeting. Roll Call Vote Evans,, and

The Board reviewed the report. 2. Review collections and expenditures from the activity fund. Vote to approve the activity fund report. The Board reviewed the report and voted to approve. All elementary vision and dental screenings have been completed and reports have been sent home to parents.

6 2. Distribution of food packs through the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank has begun for current school year. Elementary students with potential food insecurity may be reported to Mrs. Burnett 3. The Enchanted Forest book fair wrapped up on Thursday, September 27. Sales exceeded totals from last year. A special thank you to all of the parents and friends who helped with the fair and made it an enjoyable experience for all of our students and guests. 4. Thank you to the Baptist Church for bringing pizza to teachers the night of parent/teacher conferences. It was much appreciated. 5. Several outside agencies have begun or are about to begin after school programs for elementary students. The First United Methodist Church is continuing their Spark program for students in grades 1 5. The JOM program through the Pawnee Nation has begun after school tutoring. Pawnee Nation Education will also begin sponsoring tutoring at the elementary beginning October 8, for any student who receives a teacher recommendation and meet certain criteria. 6. There are many upcoming events on the calendar: October 3 October 5 October October 9 October 10 October 15 October 16 October 17 October 18 & 19 October 22 October 23 October 25 October 26 Pawnee s DYW, Miss Cassidy Beck, visits 5 th grade girls for Be Your Best Self presentation Rise and Shine Homecoming dress up days: Monday: Growing Up Black Bear dress like you what you want to be when you grow up (no super heroes or Halloween costumes, please.) Tuesday: Keep Barnsdall in the Barn dress like a farmer Wednesday: We beat Barnsdall together- dress like your friends as twins, triplets, etc. Thursday: Spirit goes on an on wear your favorite college shirt Friday: Red and Black spirit day 3 rd and 4 th grade program at 1:30 and 6:30 in the auditorium Pre-K through 2 nd grade to Garrett s Pumpkin Patch Ned s Mindset Mission Show for elementary students 1 st grade to Leonardo s in Enid early dismissal (1:00 pm) for faculty & staff training Fall Break Red Ribbon Walk for Red Ribbon Week 2 nd grade to Leonardo s in Enid Picture retakes Progress reports sent home

7 Mrs. Womack * MS students will be participating in Homecoming dress up days next week, each day two students will be selected as the best dressed and receive a prize. * We canceled the Wildlife Expo trip scheduled for 7 th graders due to rain; however, plans are being made for them to go on another field trip. * Several MS students are participating in the Tulsa State Fair. * Parent/Teacher Conferences went over well. * Thank you to Tina Steele and AirEvac for the CPR/AED training. * OSTP (Oklahoma School Testing Program) has a new parent portal that allows parents to view their student s state test data. If parents or guardians have questions about this feature, they can contact me at the MS office. * Thank you to Pawnee Nations Substance Abuse Program for the suicide prevention assembly. * Teachers are carrying walkie-talkies while on duty, this allows them to access the MS office more quickly and efficiently. We have also added an additional duty to the rotation where a teacher is posted on 7 th street between here and the cafeteria. * We have updated our fire evacuation procedure and designated the dome at the ES as the meeting place. In the event of an actual fire, all MS and HS students will be evacuated to the dome. This will enable us to better reunite parents and students. * The MS office has been newly painted with several new decorations added to the office, including a bear that has been painted on the wall by Stacy Godberson. * Thank you to Melanie and Darrel Carender for their donation to the MS advisory, and for volunteering to cook hot dogs for the first quarter Zero Party on Wednesday, October 24. * Tutoring will begin soon, both before and after school. Pawnee High School/Middle School, Faculty extend their appreciation to Pawnee Baptist Church for providing pizza and drinks at Parent/Teacher Conferences. Our high school teachers held over 300 conferences. Our teachers are very appreciative of all parents who took advantage of conferences. 2. Thanks to the city of Pawnee for grooming the parking lot at the softball field during the Regional Tournament. Also, thanks to Mandy votny and crew for keeping the softball field mowed and trimmed this season. 3. Congratulations to Cheyenne Leach, Bruin Queen.

9 4. Congratulation to the 2018 Lady Bear Softball team. District Champions, Regional Champions, and State Tournament Qualifiers, with a current record of Their first game of the State Tournament will be against Howe and will be played at The Ballfields at Firelake, Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 1:30 P.M. We will have a send-off at (9:15 A.M. Thursday). The field is located at Rangeline, Shawnee, OK 5. High School Vision Screening was held September 4 thru Nine teachers and staff members attended CPR training September 7, and now CPR certified. 7. September 17 the Pawnee Nation provided a MS/HS Suicide Prevention assembly presented by David Gonzales. 8. Gym bathroom renovation is near completion. 9. October 1 thru 6 is National 4-H week. 10. High School football team travels to Hominy this Friday. Kick-off is at 7:00 P.M. 11. Tulsa Fair October 1 thru Homecoming is October 12 against Barnsdall. Queen coronation is at 6:30, with kick-off at 7:00 P.M.
