1 OURY SCHOOL DISTRICT R -1 BORD OF EDUCTION MINUTES for Regular Meeting June 29, :30 School Cafeteria Board ttendance: Jerry Don Jennifer Chris Kentee Others in ttendance: Scott Pankow Sheridan Block Kenneth Nelson Mike Suzann Giesler Sandy Kern *Call to Order: 6:32 *genda approved as amended *Minutes approved for the regular meeting May 18, 2015 *Celebrations: Western Colorado Community Foundation has given the school $13.5K to upgrade some of the stage equipment in the Multi-Purpose Room, in support of Fine rts education in the Ouray School. *Communications from the public: There have been some complaints from parents and others that attend special program events that there are students/ kids running around, getting up and down, going in and out during the performance. The Board has asked the administration if there can be an announcement before the programs on audience etiquette. *Public Hearing for Budget: t 7:00pm the regular meeting was put on hold for the FY 16 budget reading. The Board adopted the ppropriation Resolution for FY 16. Final reading for the FY 16 budget. Closed public hearing at 7:15pm. *Financial Report for pril 2015 accepted Financial Report for May 2015 tabled due to not receiving all reports. *Board authorized the budget committee and the administration to select and hire an uditor for the FY 15 budget financial audit. Report from Construction Committee (Mike ) -Work has begun on the roof -The first phase of asbestos abatement was completed. nother 40 foot pipe was found that was not in the bid this will be an additional cost of $9800 for removal. sbestos cost thus far

2 are actually lower than anticipated. If the air samples pass, Excel will be out of the building this week. There is another pipe that is inaccessible at this time, it will be dealt with next year. -The construction committee along with RT, FCI and BEST discussed the protocols for the initial phase, pay applications, request for information, change orders, construction schedule and keeping students and staff safe from the work. -Weekly construction meetings will be held each Wednesday at 10:00am and the Owners Rep. will have weekly reports. -The committee will start phase two planning on Wednesday. *The Board had a discussion with the Owners Rep. on the best way to keep the community informed of the construction. There will be a sign in front of the school with the school web site on it. There will be a place on the webpage for the community to get updated information. *The Board approved Suzann Giesler to be the Preschool Director for FY16. *Report from Preschool Director (Suzann Giesler) Suzann informed the Board of the name change for preschool, it will be named Early Learning Center of Ouray (ELC). She informed us of the timing for the large facility license application and the capacity to increase to 20 students. Suzann has scheduled a visit with the licensing specialist for ugust 11 to go over the room to make sure it meets the requirements. She is hoping to get into the classroom by ugust first to clean and organize it with the help of the CCP Council. Suzann has also taken steps to register with the new Professional Development Information System. The two ELC staff members have been notified to complete the PDIS. Finally Suzann is in the process of taking her necessary college classes to renew her large center director qualifications. *District: -InnEDCo teacher technology training, 5 teachers went to the, training was well received. -RND-191 is the new state wide teacher evaluation system that we will be using beginning next year. *Policies: Policies through I are finished, sent in to CSB. Will get J by July. *Discussion Items: -BOE meetings will be on the 4th Monday of the month. Except for ugust 31, September 21, November 16, December 14, and March 21. -BOE work sessions will be the Wednesday prior to the Board meetings. -BOE retreat is set for ugust 3, 1pm till 7pm at the home of Board President, Jerry. *ction Items: -pproved resolution for the district to participate in the November 2015 elections. Board positions to fill are 2-4 year terms and 1-2 year term. -pproved the BOE regular meetings and the work sessions.

3 -pproved the hire of the MS/HS Band Director for 2015/2016 Mike Scott. -uthorized the district/administrator to sign the BEST contract. *Consent genda: ccepted resignation of Larry Bartlett *Correspondence: Received the letter from CDE accepting our udit for FY 13/14 *Executive Session: t 8:37pm went into executive session per CRS (f), Personnel Matters, for performance review of the superintendent for present year. *Back in regular session at 9:29 *The Board unanimously approved the following performance ratings for Mr. Pankow in the four areas required for Board evaluation by C.R.S (1) (a): Fulfilling adopted school district objectives. Rating: Exceeds. Fiscal Management of the school district. Rating: Exceeds. District planning responsibilities. Rating: Exceeds. Supervision and evaluation of district personnel.
