6 Education is offering 63 classes this Winter: 16 PC classes 14 Mac classes 33 Other classes ( Other classes include: dual platform classes, smart phones & tablets, social networking, & special interest classes.) Some of these classes are one session, two sessions, three sessions, and even four sessions. And some of our classes are offered several times, such as Windows 10 classes.

13 Updates: Mr. Simmons summarized the following new items that were discussed at the 2/23/17 Executive Board meeting: Purchase of Monitor above Podium The purchased Mac Minis have been stored in the server room awaiting Chaparral renovation. The 12 mini PCs are on order. Job Description Updates: Monitor Director, Social Committee. The monitor director job description was revised to add oversight of the attendance takers at General Meetings and Coffee Chats and maintaining stationary items and club brochures at the Monitor desk. Also a Social Committee was established which will encompass the Volunteer Dinner Committee and other various functions,.
14 Updates (continued): Future of the Podium Action was deferred until the next Board meeting. The Next Five Years. Mr. Simmons reported on a recent conversation with CAM General Manager Ken Olson concerning how the Computers Club will encompass technology changes coming over the next few years. He has solicited further input from various Club members. Opening Club on Saturdays? There have been requests to open the Club on Saturdays. Some of the related issues are (a) opening the door for the monitors to enter, (b) the cleaning of the room by CAM on Saturday, and (c) the regularly scheduled updates of the computers. The monitor director has asked for additional input on the matter.
15 Tech Help Mr. Simmons again mentioned that the Club handled over 1800 requests in 2016, potentially saving members over $130,000! He again reiterated guidelines to be implemented if Tech Help gets too crowded: No help before 12:30pm. No advance appointments. 30 minute time limit. No pre Windows 7, early iphones, ipads or Macs. Limit recurring visits. Members should have ID, passwords.

17 Volunteers Mr. Simmons spoke of the March 31 volunteer dinner and how members might qualify and asked that members who have been invited send their acceptance and dinner selections to Joe Scanlon. Finally Mr. Simmons mentioned the need for new volunteers in the following categories: Instructors Classroom Assistants Monitors Tech Helpers Publicity Committee Nominating Committee

20 Also the audience was reminded about the following: Access to computers in Open Use Room (Monday through Friday, 9:00 am 3:30 pm, October through April. That Jim Geffre ( , donates old laptops to schools and would like the laptops to have Windows 7. That the Club also collects Old Cell Phones & Printer Cartridges. The Code of Conduct when either in the Club or at Club meetings.
21 9. Member Comments on non-agenda items and general questions. There were none. Mr. Simmons introduced featured Speakers Chris and Jim Guld of Geeks On Tour who presented Google Photos. 10. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 3:25pm.
