1 BOARD OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES SOLE SUPERVISORY DISTRICT OF PUTNAM & WESTCHESTER COUNTIES 200 BOCES DRIVE, YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, NY Minutes May 15, 2018 PRESENT STAFF CALL TO ORDER PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE STUDENT PRESENTATIONS AND RECOGNITION Richard Kreps, Catherine Lilburne, Anita Feldman, Tina Mackay, Mary Cay Nilsen, Frank Schnecker Lynn Allen, Catherine Balestrieri, Todd Currie, Marla Gardner, John McCarthy, Michael Skerritt Mr. Kreps called the meeting to order at 4:30 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Mr. Kreps asked for a moment of silence for one of our students, Binyaminov (Bini) Cohen. Bini passed away on Monday evening just a few weeks shy of his 10 th birthday. Three students from CTE joined us this evening to present on their Education Technology Internship. Drew Braman, Tony Carrasquillo and James Page used a PowerPoint to review their activities which included, but are not limited to, wireless strength, equipment setup and checks, assistive technology inventory and checks, possible software recommendations for student use and customer service. Dr. Ryan expressed his thanks and gave each of the students a certificate to acknowledge their achievements. He also expressed his thanks to Joseph DeCicco, CTE Teacher, Jennifer Harriton-Wilson, Education Technology Coordinator and Pam Doran, Education Technology Teaching Assistant. Minutes May 15, The CODA (Co-Occurring Disorders Awareness) Club from Fox Meadow presented a video they produced. Our students Brandon Gordon, Jaquail Grant, Colby Kelland and Irving Rodriguez have worked closely with teachers Patricia Gallo, Stacy Chiarella, Liz Marques and CODA founder Stephanie Marquesano. All are extremely proud of the finished project. Ms. Marquesano was very impressed by our students and the work they have done. Dr. Ryan expressed his thanks to each of the students and presented them with a certificate to

WPSBA Proposed Budget and Nominating Slate for After a brief discussion, it was decided that our vote will be cast at the May 31, 2018 WPSBA Annual Meeting. 7C Minutes May 15, Architectural Services Recommendation Mr. Schnecker moved, and Mrs. Mackay seconded, approval of the

6 following resolution: RESOLVED upon the recommendation of the Facilities Committee and the Assistant Director of Business Affairs, that the Board of Education of Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES appoint Michael Shilale Architects, LLP as the BOCES architect for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018 at the rates listed below. 7 OLD BUSINESS 7E BCEA Supplemental Memorandum of Agreement Mrs. Lilburne moved, and Mrs. Mackay seconded, approval of the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby approves the terms of a Supplemental Memorandum of Agreement dated May 15, 2018 between the BOCES and the BOCES Classified Employees Association, as presented to the Board at this meeting, a copy of which shall be incorporated by reference within the minutes of this meeting. Al members present voted aye. 8A Draft Board Meeting Schedule for after a brief discussion, August 22 was identified as the date for the August 2018 Board Meeting/Retreat. DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT S UPDATE Mr. Schnecker moved, and Mrs. Nilsen seconded, approval of the Board Meeting Schedule for All members present voted aye. Dr. Ryan told the Board that he recently had an inquiry from the Chappaqua Superintendent regarding the administrative budget allocation methodology. He will keep the Board posted. FINAL COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE FINAL COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD EXECUTIVE SESSION RETURN TO REGULAR Minutes May 15, Dr. Ryan gave the Board an update on the five superintendent searches. He believes the final district will be announcing their selection shortly. Dr. Ryan suggested some areas for consideration for the District Superintendent evaluation. He believes that a narrative summary is much more effective. Mr. Kreps suggested a separate meeting to begin this process. He asked Mary to poll the Board. None Mr. Kreps asked Mary to follow-up on the Board s annual dinner meeting. Suggested date is June 6, Mrs. Lilburne moved, and Mrs. Nilsen seconded, that the Board enter into Executive Session to discuss the employment history of a particular individual. All members present voted aye and the Board entered into Executive Session at 5:44 pm. Mr. Schnecker moved, and Mrs. Feldman seconded, that the
