2 Introduction Monsoon in Pakistan generally penetrates from July to September (One Quarter) and produces widespread rains. While on the other side, early melting of snow and outburst of glacial lakes caused the riverine flooding in Sindh through Indus River and widespread rains with thunderstorms produced rainfall flooding in many areas of Sindh Province. At the present, the northern districts of Sindh province experiencing high level of flooding in Indus River. Regarding recent floods the PMD, PDMA and flood forecasting division Lahore already issued alerts/warnings to make all possible precautionary measures to avoid any unwanted situation in any area of Pakistan in result of floods. The current flood situation report of northern districts of Sindh province where SRSO has been working over the period of 12 years, briefly provides the information with respect to the flood conditions prevailing in these northern districts particularly the latest water level at both the barrages and in kacha areas during flow of Indus River. Report also highlights a quick view of possible support being carried out to extend the possible relief to the flood affected people. The recent flood situation at Guddu and Sukkur Barrages The water-level at the Guddu Barrage has begun receding with a decline of more than 50,000 cusecs being recorded in 48 hours. At the moment, the upstream at the Guddu Barrage was recorded at 651,939 cusecs and downstream at 628,274 cusecs. At the Sukkur Barrage, the upstream recorded at 689,975 cusecs and downstream at 638,600 cusecs. Classification of Flood level (flow of water in cusecs) Page 1 of 10

Relief activities immediately started by the district Governments in their respective districts. SRSO also executed number of relief activities in various districts under the existing context of flood situation in districts. The brief overview of existing situation of relief activities started by districts Govt and SRSO given in the report. Relief activities Other than the above activities reported in figurative form, the SRSO staff is engaged in relief relevant activities at the sites of different bands for affected families. CEO SRSO visited the relief camps at Bagarji, met with affected households and assessed the needs physically. After this visit, CEO directed the respective RM & DM to start the assessment of affected households and results of assessment would be shared with the worthy Commissioner Sukkur and respective DCs. The affected households shared with CEO regarding their immediate needs, they informed that PIT latrines and water facility in form of Hand pumps is essentially needed at their camps.

Govt Khairpur organized a distribution ceremony at Village Garhi Pathan, in which Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari graced the event as Chief Guest along with CM Sindh and Mr. Khurshid Shah. Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari distributed the dresses among man, women and children who affected in recent flood.

More than 30 students are being provided education in this TLC with support of respective LSO. Kashmore team conducted 27 Hygiene promotion sessions with flood affected households.

6 The affected households shared with CEO regarding their immediate needs, they informed that PIT latrines and water facility in form of Hand pumps is essentially needed at their camps. SRSO handed over the 182 dresses for (man, women & children) to the Govt Khairpur in order to distribute in flood affected families. Govt Khairpur organized a distribution ceremony at Village Garhi Pathan, in which Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari graced the event as Chief Guest along with CM Sindh and Mr. Khurshid Shah. Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari distributed the dresses among man, women and children who affected in recent flood. SRSO Kashmore started a TLC at village Durrani Mahar which is completely located inside of band and 100% devastated. More than 30 students are being provided education in this TLC with support of respective LSO. Kashmore team conducted 27 Hygiene promotion sessions with flood affected households. In these sessions 103 male, 279 female and 164 children participated. All the participants were urged to maintained proper hygiene within their camps in order to safeguard their families from various diseases. Kashmore team also distributed 103 soaps in different families in order to promote hand washing after use of latrines. These all soaps kept in placed at locations where PIT latrines are installed at Band areas. Mr. Naveed Ishaque (Manager-MER) paid a field monitoring visit on 09-August-2015 at districts Kashmore and Larkana to monitor the relief work being carried out by SRSO teams and to seek the feedback of flood affected masses regarding the provision of required items and their existing needs. 7 Immediate Support Needed/Required in flood affected areas 1. The population recently shifted from their native villages to Protective band are genuinely requiring the safe drinking water. 2. The households shifted at Protective band are also lacking with food items hence requiring food for their families in order to supplement the need on immediate basis, particularly in district Ghotki, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Khairpur and Sukkur. 3. More shelters/tents need to be provided to the households who have evacuated recently and don t have any tent/shelter at protective bands in various districts. 4. Preventive mosquito nets and repellent are genuinely required at many locations where the relief camps are established. 5. As, now the schools are announced open, therefore in majority of flooded areas the schools are falling in flood water and children are found wondering without any education. There is a great need to establish temporary learning centers (TLCs) in those areas to avoid the possible sufferings of children in terms of their education.
