On the other hand, the interpretive paradigms by recipients of social work as well as the strategies of action of addressees may differ due to different Prof. Dr. Gema Varona, Professor at Basque Institute of Criminology, University of the Basque Country, Donostia / San Sebastián (Spain) Fri, 5 Oct :30 pm 6:45 pm Sat, 6 Oct 2018 Sun, 7 Oct 2018 Bachelor of Social Work (Module 3) 2,5
2 socialization processes. Against this background, social work needs gendersensitive perspectives, concepts of action and fields of work. In addition, social work can ask to what extent itself is gender-specific and involved in the (re-) production of gender relations. The course will introduce basic gender issues in social work. Emphases are: - Gender relations in society - Life situations / problem situations of girls / women, boys / men - Gender-specific fields of work and gender-sensitive concepts of action - Gender mainstreaming Module: Major social issues and current developments in social care services in selected European welfare states Course Title Contents Lecturer Schedule Degree s Programme Youth at risk - Prof. Dr. Albert Fri, 26 Oct 2018 Bachelor of Problems and Hauber, Leiden 2:30 pm 6:45 pm Social Work programs for University (The improvement Netherlands) This seminar on life worlds of male and female juveniles and young adults focuses primarily on the comparison of life worlds and life circumstances of young people, who have committed delinquent acts or who have violated norms in the societies of the Netherlands and Germany, respectively. They learn about and are encouraged to search for specific measures of intervention in this field. Welfare State and Migration The welfare state promises not only inclusion but is also surrounded by various material and symbolic boundaries that govern both access and entitlement Christos Zisis (PhD Candidate in Social & Cult. Anthropology, University of Hamburg) Thursdays, 4:15 pm - 5:45 pm to benefits. Transnational migration processes call into question the traditional, complex and in some cases discriminatory architecture of social systems and foster new challenges. Media reports on immigration into the social system, as well as populist mobilizations create a mood in which more and more borders are drawn. In order to shed light on these complexities and interrelated topics, this seminar will approach and analyse the epistemologies and genealogies of the institutional architecture of the welfare state as well as the foundations and
4 instruments of migration policy, with a special focus on European asylum policies. Further questions to be taken into consideration: Is the nationally constituted welfare state capable of responding adequately to transnational migrations as an element of globalization? Which political and social integration conditions and strategies does an immigration society need? Are successful integration concepts from other countries transferable? Does socio-political confrontation with migration and the integration of ethnic minorities enable the further development of the national welfare state?
