2 UN supports the Eurasian Integration In 2012 the United Nations General Assembly officially recognized the efforts of the Eurasian states to strengthen regional economic integration within the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space and expressed their desire to deepen the Eurasian integration by establishing the Eurasian Economic Union. (Resolution of the UN GA 67 th Session, November 16, 2012) 2

3 Eurasian Economic Union as it is today - Started in January 2015 and unites Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russian Federation as the EAEU Member States - EAEU Treaty was registered in the UN Secretariat on July 24, 2015 in accordance with Article 102 of the UN Charter - EAEU the largest integration association in Eurasia with the global market of more than 180 million people - EAEU develops economic and trade cooperation with more than 50 states as well as UN organizations and other international groupings/unions 3

4 Legal Framework for the SDGs implementation in the EAEU UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/70/1 Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development The Addis Ababa Action Agenda adopted by the GA on 27 July 2015 The WTO rules and regulations (CU&CES formed in full accordance with) EAEU Treaty (signed in Astana, ) incorporates top global and national regulatory practices 4

5 SDG Coordination Leaders Forum in Belarus, Feb in Minsk Art. 8 acknowledges the importance of regional integration for the SDGs achievements and the existence of the SDGs Regional Coordination Mechanism Art. 11 stresses the importance of the statistical data and coordination of methodological approaches in statistics 5

6 The EAEU and SDGs Regional economic integration contributes to SDGs achievement within the Union and becomes an additional tool to support highquality and sustainable growth in the Member States. Goals and directions of the EAEU economic development largely coincide with the goals and objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 6

7 Subregional economic integration key element of the EAEU sustainable development via realization of the UN SDGs and targets: - agreed (coordinated) policies - macroeconomic stability - energy security - innovative solutions - industrial cooperation - transport infrastructure enhancements 7

9 The Report covers 3 main stages of the Eurasian regional integration: current stage of the modern regional integration developments in Eurasia Customs Union was introduced EAEU became operational 9

20 Home task for the EAEU: We need to increase our efforts to achieve Goals 7,9,10 and be more proactive implementing of energy-efficient, and resource-saving technologies, high-tech manufacturing, scientific-intensive products, creation of regional industrial clusters, etc. 20
