23 Volume 52, Issue 4 Page 23 FROM THE EDITOR: This month our get-together will be a little different. In August we usually take a short break from our CLE After Hours and have a summer social. We are planning a trip to try out the new Ferris wheel in downtown Atlanta, called the SkyView ( I was very pleased at the turnout at our July CLE After Hours. We had a couple of members attending their first CLE, Terri Olsen and Stacey Henderson of Paul Hastings. Our speaker was John Ley, the Clerk of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. The 11th Circuit has recently moved to online filing and Mr. Ley gave us a very interesting discussion about recent rules changes and the process of filing pleadings. This issue contains information about the AALS Board meeting in August. This provides an opportunity for additional CLE, as well as a chance to get to know some of our Alabama members. Another exciting event coming up is Court Observance Week. We will have a photo op at the Capitol. See pp. 7-8 for information. This issue also includes a leadership article by Marie Ringholz, as well as two articles by Vicki Voisin, one on Ethics and another on the use of LinkedIn. We also have a new ad by Tiffany Alley. In other developments, work continues on revising the NALS OF ATLANTA website. The pages will be updated one by one. In addition, the webmaster is setting it up so that we are going to be able to update some of the information directly. This should speed things up and help us keep the website more up to date. School is about to start back, and in fact it already started back on August 1 for some people. I am finished with school and have taken the Georgia Bar Exam. I am going to be taking a week or two off, then I will be job-hunting. See you at the Ferris wheel. Sally Stenger, PP, PLS Scriptum Editor GUIDELINES for submitting articles to the Scriptum: AD RATES are on page 3. DEADLINE FOR ARTICLES is the Monday after the CLE of each month. ARTICLES OR LETTERS TO THE EDITOR should be submitted to stenger.sally@gmail.com ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION: Please send your submissions in electronic format (for example, by ). FORMAT: At this time The Scriptum is being prepared on Microsoft Publisher, then turned into PDF and posted online. Please submit items for publication in Microsoft WORD format. They will then be put into Publisher by way of cut-and-paste. Please keep formatting to a minimum as the formatting is lost during the cut-and-paste process. MARGINS: Please use two inch margins on all sides. This is to provide room for the headers and page numbering. LENGTH OF ARTICLES: Generally articles should be from about one paragraph to one page in length. However, I will consider articles that are longer. CAVEAT: When composing your submissions, remember that everything in the Scriptum will be posted to the web for public view and govern yourselves accordingly.
