1 Lee County Legislative Delegation State Representative Gary Aubuchon, Chair MEMORANDUM TO: All Agencies of Local Government, Interested Parties and SW Florida Media FROM: Representative Gary Aubuchon, Chairman, Lee County Legislative Delegation SUBJECT: Lee County Legislative Delegation Meeting and Public Hearing DATE: September 13, 2011 cc: Members, Lee County Legislative Delegation, Candidates for legislative office The Lee County Legislative Delegation Meeting has been set for Tuesday, November 8, 2011, 9:00AM 4:30PM, Taeni Hall (Room S-117) at Edison State College (8099 College Parkway SW, Fort Myers, 33919) The Delegation will conduct local business including a public hearing on local bills (if filed), funding requests and other issues for which people may have registered to speak. The deadline for submitting local bills to the Delegation is 5:00pm on Friday, October 28, All local bills must be accompanied by completed paperwork required by the Florida Legislature, including original signatures of the legislative sponsors, and should be forwarded to Representative Aubuchon at 3501 Del Prado Blvd., Suite 305, Cape Coral, FL The deadline to register to make a general presentation (not related to local bills) to the Delegation is also 5:00pm on Friday, October 28, All requests for time on the agenda must be submitted in writing, via hard copy letter to the address listed above or via to paige.biagi@myfloridahouse.gov. Requests made by electronic mail will be acknowledged within two (2) days of receiving the request. The agenda for the meeting will be set by Tuesday, November 1, 2011 and will be changed only to accommodate unforeseen emergencies. Presenters who wish to provide supporting materials to the Delegation must submit twenty (20) copies of those materials to the address above by 5:00pm on Friday, October 28, Each set of materials must be printed on letter-size paper and three-hole punched at the left margin. 2 LEE COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION MEETING NOVEMBER 8, 2011 LOCAL BILL INSTRUCTIONS 2012 Legislative Session The Lee County Legislative Delegation has established 5:00pm, Friday, October 28, 2011 as the deadline for submitting local bills for consideration by the Delegation during its meeting on Tuesday, November 8, Persons or entities submitting a local bill must provide a technically correct draft of the bill, a completed Explanatory Memorandum and a completed Economic Impact Statement required by the Florida House of Representatives. Both forms are attached. PLEASE NOTE: THE BILL DRAFTING OFFICES IN THE FLORIDA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE FLORIDA SENATE DO NOT DRAFT LOCAL BILLS. Each local bill MUST be sponsored by at least one member of the Florida House of Representatives from Lee County at the time of submission, and the Explanatory Memorandum bearing the original signature of the sponsoring Member must be included with the package. While it is not required, it is very helpful to have at least one member of the Florida Senate from Lee County also sign off for submission purposes. Twenty (20) copies of the complete package (Explanatory Memorandum, Economic Impact Statement, and Bill) are required, with a three-hole punch at the left margin. The Delegation will convene on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 to conduct local business, including a public hearing on local bills (if filed), funding requests and other issues for which people may have registered to speak. The Delegation will conduct its meeting in Fort Myers in Taeni Hall on the campus of Edison State College (Room S-117, Student Services Building, 8099 College Parkway, SW, Fort Myers, 33919). The meeting will begin at 9:00AM and will adjourn not later than 4:30PM. If a local bill is considered favorably by the Delegation, it must be advertised by the submitting party; instructions will be provided by legislative staff at the appropriate time.
