Approval of Minutes January 13, Motion to approve minutes from January 13, 2011 by Rita Laur. Seconded by Jackie Kimble. Approved by X12M members. e. Review Agenda for the day Meeting: June 6 th 8 th, 2011 in Dallas (Addison, TX) at the InterContinental Hotel to work on the CICA Purchase Order. 2. Sub-committee Reports a. Subcommittee J (Technical Assessment) Reported by Rita Laur. Discussion of introducing X12 to ISO using documentation of Peter Pruyne felt it would be more effective to submit X12.6 instead and ask members of the sub-committee to consider and report back to their subcommittees. The message and reason to approach ISO with this is to demonstrate that X12 is not just a North American Standard but would accommodate global requirements. When designated as ISO it is available to a wider audience. The Shared Data Maintenance (DMs) were reviewed. One particular note was related to some DM s submitted for CICA document development. The individual and organization no longer a member of X12 (from X12N- Insurance) thus the DMs are withdrawn. 3. Shared & New Data Maintenance a. Review and Discuss New X12 M Referrals Change Request for DE 116-Postal Code. Code specifying international postal zone code, excluding punctuation and blanks (zip code for United States). US=Zip + 4. Canada = 3 space 3. Rita Laur remove excluding punctuations from definition. TAS Open Forum: Rita Laur presented the case to the X12M members for discussion before presenting to Forum. Canadian postal code is actually 7 not 6. Canadian Government indicates space are part of the postal code. When the space is not included, machines must reroute the mail for manual processing. The request is to standardize the format. Recommendation is to Page 4 of 7

5 require country code if postal code is used. (If N403 is present, the N404 is required). Steve Rosenberg: Definition for 116 violates the definition of Identifier ( ) and String ( ). The space needed in the postal code is in the middle of the content not at the beginning or end. Rita Laur and Steve Rosenberg will go to the open forum with the discussion that the placeholder is significant. 4. Other a. Strategic Planning: 2011 membership under 500. Core of membership is Insurance. Revenue and growth has been on the implementation guidelines (TR1, TR2, TR3). X12 Standards used as North American standards. What should we be doing for the survival of the committee going forward? How do we (Supply Chain) impact or engage more people to attend? A lot of people think that X12 is part of ISO. Is the price of the table data reflected? Suggestion: Education, marketing, virtual help through a company or persons elected by DISA to educate on EDI. b. Jackie 850 Question: Is there anyone using the EDI 850 in a manner where the transaction is sent by the seller to the buyer? c. Rita Postal Code definition violates definition of (see above) 5.
