Ginter Rd., Tucson, AZ Wednesday, February 18, :30 PM The Special Governing Board, Study Session convened at 5:49 p.m.; Roll Call: All present. Approval of Agenda Board Member Eric Giffin moved, seconded by Board Member Buck Crouch to approve agenda items as submitted. Motion Passed. Board Comments CALL TO THE AUDIENCE Acknowledgement of Public Request to Speak GENERAL FUNCTIONS K-8 Fine Arts M agnet Study Session Dr Jan Vesely, Deputy Superintendent presented to the Governing Board details on a proposed cost analysis for the renovation and redesigning of the Gallego K-8 Fine Arts Magnet Schools. The proposed additional items budget included music lists for instruments, chorus risers, Mariachi instruments, music stands, carts, podium, student chairs, instrument storage cabinets, and stereo systems in the approximate amount of $215, Additional furniture/equipment that include appliances, Science and Art Equipment estimated at $600, Roofing options between restoration at $320, or replacement with overlay over the existing roof membrane at $64, The total for these items and including: site lighting for parent drive lane, six foot Dooley wall, field bleachers, new air conditioning, painting/wrought iron fence, and replacement of school marquee will be $1,316, CORE ADM team; Ben Barcomb, Tara Grenier, and Todd Steffen presented overviews of different options on the Conceptual Master Site Plan for both the Gallego K-3 and 4-8 Fine Arts Schools. They discussed these areas for the 4-8 site including expanding the parking lot 220 spaces, possible movement of the track for roadway access, resurfacing basketball courts with one needing a new slab pour, security glazing at entrances (both schools), new sidewalk, restroom of the lobby-parent accessible, Public Address System (PA), 8th grade exterior courtyard, science tables, possible traffic study, power system-under carpeting, new staff parking, and bus drop off/pick up loop. These items not in the original projected budget total from Bond funds $ 665, and Adjacent Ways $365, This would modify the current CORE ADM contract amount from: $8,350, to $9,380, Dr. Vesely, Hector Encinas, Chief Financial Officer, and CORE ADM representatives responded to questions and discussions on: traffic study may be needed which will cost the District $4, the city will be able to clear direction on this within the next 30 days, expanding loop drive, parent drop off/pick up, vacant lot, parking south of the K-3 site will have a chain link fence to keep it clear, roll gates,moving of the security station, cooperative contracts with CORE coordinating with no mark ups, contingency funds of $100,000.00, signage and parent understanding of traffic flow, delaying roofing-two year warranty, Outdoor Educational Space between campuses, additional purchases of instruments-buying in bulk, purchasing extra being the opportunity may not come again, air conditioning needs-gym and change out the kitchen from swamp, and energy costs.
