The Agenda for the November 25, 2008, regular meeting of the Glendale City Council was posted on Thursday, November 20, 2008 on the Bulletin Board outside City Hall. 3. PRESENTATIONS AND APPOINTMENTS a. Agenda Preview for the Meetings of December 2, 2008 Assistant City Manager Robert McFall offered the updated report. b. Presentation of Plaque by Mayor of the City of Monrovia Rob Hammond in Recognition of Glendale s Police Department s Assistance during a Gang Activity Experienced this Year Mayor of Monrovia Rob Hammond presented a plaque to Police Chief Randy Adams and members of the Police Department. c. Nomination Assignment for the Transportation & Parking Commission Najarian d. Nomination Assignment for the Commission on the Status of Women Najarian e. Nomination Assignment for the Commission on the Status of Women Drayman f. Appointment of Mr. Aramazd Stepanian to the Arts & Culture Commission Yousefian Mr. Stepanian was appointed to serve a three-year, replacing Ms. Jeraldine Saunders, to expire November 25, Seconded: Quintero g. Appointment of Mr. Richard Bennett to the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission Drayman Mr. Bennett was appointed to serve a three-year term, replacing Mr. Zareh J. Sinanyan, to expire January 28, Moved: Drayman Seconded: Yousefian 4. CITY COUNCIL/STAFF COMMENTS Council Member Weaver, in response to calls he had been receiving, indicated that the Rose float decorating would begin on December 7. Council Member Quintero commented he was at the Glendale Chess Park and ran into Mr. Armen Ambartsoumian, one of the Chess coaches, and saw the Annual Goodwill Chess event, where more than fifty players competed. Mr. Quintero hoped that Glendale would continue to host similar events in the future. Page

3 Council Member Yousefian attended the grand opening of Scholl Canyon Estates retirement community. He also had the opportunity to meet the newly-elected President of Karabagh, in Armenia, Bako S. Sahakian, who was at an event last night. Mayor Drayman asked when the meeting with T-Mobile, the utilities, the City and the neighborhood would occur. He indicated that he attended the Annual Glendale Community Thanksgiving celebration at the church formerly known as the Church of the Lighted Window in La Cañada. He announced the Glendale s 2008 Homeless Connect Day event on Thursday, December 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. He shared an received from a resident residing on El Lado Lane who was concerned about a section of disconnected water spigots, resulting in the landscape drying out. He shared information on an art project by students attending Toll, Hoover and Keppel Schools. He discussed the sandbags on Arden Street where the trees had been removed. He requested the public s help by providing the Historical Societies with any memorabilia, photographs and documents of Glendale to assist them in continuing to piece together Glendale s history. Council Member Yousefian requested that the rezoning of Hollister, east side of Glenoaks Canyon, be agendized. City Clerk Ardashes Kassakhian thanked Council Member Quintero for attending the Chess tournament, adding that a couple of more tournaments took place recently. He requested that the meeting be adjourned In Memory of Mr. Vahik Gourjian, a former editor of Asbarez Armenian Daily Newspaper, and a Deputy in Senator Jack Scott s Office, who passed away on Sunday. Council Member Quintero commented that he knew Mr. Gourjian for many years. He was a hard worker and always in good spirits. He would be missed. 5.
