We are offering a place for you to send your messages of appreciation to those women representing your local courts, state courts and our national order of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. 9 Come join us for fun, great food and entertainment Catholic Daughters of the Americas Nebraska State Fun Night Friday July 20, 2012 The D. C. Centre Starting at 6:00 air conditioned buses will be traveling between the Hilton and the D.C. Centre. The evening will end at 10:30 and so will the buses--- bringing you back when you are ready. Menu Join us for a Nebraska buffet of beef, chicken and vegetable lasagna with all the trimmings including tea and coffee. There will be a cash bar during the evening. Entertainment Steve Fowler who has been on Broadway will entertain us with a wide variety of songs. He will play music for dancing. Catholic Daughters requires that you donate 15% of your GROSS sales to the Catholic Daughters. Amending this bylaw, also, keeps the State Board in line with National Officers when there is a vacant (open) office at the National level. PROPOSED AMENDMENT # 12 ARTICLE XIV CAMPUS COURT PROPOSED AMENDMENT # 13 Sec. 1 compositions The composition of a Campus Court is at least fifteen (15) members who have been received into a Catholic Daughters of the Americas court on a college or University. PROPOSED AMENDMENT #14 Sec. 2 OFFICERS A. The Officers of a Campus Court shall be a Regent, Vice Regent, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary and Treasurer. B. Nominations for court officers are made from the floor at the first business meeting of the fall semester. C. Elections are conducted by voice vote or ballot at the first meeting of the fall semester. Officers are installed and D. Officers are installed and take office immediately upon election. PROPOSED AMENDMENT # 15 Sec. 3 ELIGIBILITY A. Members in good standing, whose dues are no more than three months in arrears, shall be eligible for elected office. B. Members shall hold only one (1) office. PROPOSED AMENDMENT # 16 Section 4 TERM OF OFFICE A. The term of office shall be for one year. Officers shall serve only two (2) consecutive terms or two (2) years in any one office. B. Non students members may only hold the offices of Financial Secretary and Treasurer. PROPOSED AMENDMENT # 17 Sec. 5 FORFEITURE OF OFFICE A. Any Campus Court Officer absenting herself from three (3) meetings, unless excused by the Campus Court Advisor, shall forfeit her office. B. In the event of disqualification, absence, refusal, inability or neglect of any Campus Court Officer to discharge the duties of her office, after consultation with the Campus Court Advisor, and a hearing

21 by the Campus Court Officers, the Campus Court Officers may, by a majority vote, remove her from office. PROPOSED AMENDMENT #18 Sec. 6 VACANCIES A. Vacancies in any elective office, with the exception of Regent, shall be filled by an election held at the next regular meeting following the vacancy, after written notice has been given to all members. B. Vacancies in the elective office of Regent shall be filled by the Vice Regent. PROPOSED AMENDMENT #19 Sec. 7 DUTIES OF CAMPUS OFFICERS A. The Regent shall: 1. Be the chief administrator of THE ORDER in the Court and responsible to the State Regent. 2. Enforce the bylaws of THE ORDER. 3. Preside at all meetings. 4. Appoint all committees and be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee. 5. Represent the Court at meetings of the State Court. Expenses may be paid by the Campus Court. 6. Be responsible for the development and updating of Standing Rules for the Court. 7. Countersign all Campus Court checks drawn and signed by the Treasurer. 8. Appoint a Financial Review Committee of three (3) members to review the books of the Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary and Treasurer for the semi-annual period as of March 31 and September 30. A majority of the Committee shall be present for the Financial Review. 9. When necessary, terminate membership. 10. Perform other such duties as listed in the Procedures Manual. B. The Vice Regent shall: 1. In the absence or inability of the Regent, assume her duties. 2. Assist the Regent when requested. 3. Perform other such duties as assigned by the Regent and/or as listed in the Procedures Manual. C. The Recording Secretary shall: 1. Keep accurate minutes of all proceedings of the court. 2. Perform other such duties as assigned by the Regent and/or as listed in the Procedures Manual. D. The Financial Secretary shall: 1. Keep account of the membership of the Campus Court. 2. Receive and transmit all monies of the court to the Treasurer. 3. Report any changes in membership when they occur to the National Office and to the State Secretary. All changes in membership must be in the hands of the National Office no later than April 15 for dues billed in May based on membership as of March 31 and no later than October 15 for dues billed in November based on membership as of September Notify the National Office and the State Regent of the names, addresses, and identification numbers of the Campus Court officers immediately following the election. 5. Perform other such duties as assigned by the Regent and/or as listed in the Procedures Manual. E. The Treasurer shall: 1. Receive from the Financial Secretary monies collected at each meeting and give a receipt for same. 2. Record and deposit all monies received from the Financial Secretary.

22 3. Maintain balances not in excess of insured amount in one depository. The deposit slip may be accepted as a voucher for Financial Review purposes. 4. Pay monies assessed or owed to the National Office. 5. Pay to the State Secretary monies due to the State Court 6. Pay bills approved by the Court. 7. Present a financial report at each meeting, a copy to be filed with the Regent and Recording Secretary. 8. A semi-annual report of finances shall be completed by the Financial Review Committee as of March 31 and September 30 and submitted to the National Office, the State Regent, and the State Secretary. The report shall be on forms furnished by the National Office and submitted no later than April 30 and October Perform other such duties as assigned by the Regent and/or as listed in the Procedures Manual. PROPOSED AMENDMENT #20 Sec. 8 MEETINGS A. One (1) regular business meeting shall be held each month in Campus Courts according to their college calendar. By vote of the membership three (3) meetings may be dispensed with within a twelve (12) month period. B. Each Campus Court shall set time and place of monthly meetings and may change same by vote of membership at a regular business meeting. C. A special meeting may be called providing fifteen (15) days notice in writing has been sent to every member, together with an agenda containing only items to be taken up at the special meeting. PROPOSED AMENDMENT #21 Sec. 9 QUORUM A quorum for transaction of business shall be eight (8) members, providing a majority of Officers are present. Sec. 10 STANDING RULES Any Court may enact Standing Rules which shall not conflict with the bylaws of THE ORDER. Sec. 11 SPIRITUAL ADVISOR The Campus Court Chaplain, deacon, religious or other clergy shall: A. Serve at the request of the Regent. B. Conduct religious exercises of the court. C. Be a spiritual advisor and bring before the membership specific concerns recommended for sponsorship by the court. D. Be consulted as to the appropriateness of speakers and subjects at court meetings. PROPOSED AMENDMENT #22 Sec. 12 CAMPUS COURT ADVISOR Duties of Advisor A. Become familiar with the Bylaws and the Tools of the Trade, Second Edition of THE ORDER. B. Attend all court meetings. C. Advise and support the officers.

23 D. Ensure the officers are fulfilling the requirements of their offices. E. Ensure that all reports and monies are sent to the National and State. F. Act as a liaison between the campus and the court. G. Encourage court members to be active and vital participants in CDA programs. H. Ensure that the yearly Campus Court Report is sent to the Campus Court Chairman by May 1 st. I. Ensure that the Membership Roster and Officers List is sent to the National Office and the Campus Court Chairman after fall elections. J. Ensure that the Financial Review is held and the form is sent to the National Office, the State Regent, and the Campus Court Chairman. PROPOSED AMENDMENT #23 Sec. 13 TRANSITIONAL CAMPUS COURT A. Membership 1. Membership is open to members of Campus Courts who are not yet able to transfer to a Senior court because of extenuating circumstances such as: a. Employment b. Military service c. Graduate studies at other institutions d. Transferring to an area where no CDA court exists. B. Membership will be obtained using a transfer form. C. Members are non-voting members. If the member wishes to become a voting member, she must transfer to a senior court. D. Period of Membership 1. Members may belong to interim courts no longer than ten years. 2. National Campus Court chairman will need to keep track of time limit and terminations. E. Dues 1. Dues will be set by the national board and will be billed by the national office 2. The national office will inform the National Campus Court chairman of members whose dues are in arrears. RATIONALE: Proposed Amendments Numbers 12 through 23 will strengthen and enable the Campus Courts to function efficiently and uniquely in their status as a Campus Court. This ARTICLE and proposed amendments will enable the courts to work effectively within the bylaws of the Order and feel part of the Order as a whole.
