Precinct officers are expected to read We are duty-bound to follow it as best as we can Access via NCDP.org Learn about us Our Party Party Documents Precinct Officers should become especially familiar with the following PoO Sections: Section 1: Precinct Organization Precinct organization, officer duties, precinct meetings, quorum, voting at precinct meetings, etc. Section 2: County Organizations County executive committee, officer duties, voting, quorum, board of elections, precinct judges, adopting resolutions, etc. Section 5 & 6: County Convention and District Convention Meetings and functions, rules, quorum, etc. Section & 11.05: Miscellaneous Called Meetings (definition of and quorum) Proxy Voting
6 Precinct unit of organization made up of the voting precinct. A.K.A. a precinct is comprised of the voting population living within a geographical area who all vote at the same designated polling place. Organized Precinct Committee of registered UC Democrats living within the precinct Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, & 2 committee members (If possible Chair and Vice-Chair opp gender)
7 Precinct Chair (not all written here) Preside at precinct meetings Establish reasonable political goals for the precinct Organize and execute a voter organizing plan Attend meetings of the county executive committee Recommend to the county chair names of persons to serve as precinct elections officials Keep precinct officers and members informed of all Democratic events and activities Transmit all records pertaining to office to successor within 10 days of vacating office
8 Precinct Vice-Chair (not all written here) Preside at precinct meeting in the absence of the chair Serve as the publicity chair for the precinct utilizing local newspapers, door-to-door leaflets, etc. to announce political activities and/or accomplishments of voters in precinct Attend meetings of the County Executive Committee Transmit all records pertaining to the office to successor within 10 days of vacating office
9 Precinct Secretary (not all written here) Keep all records, including minutes of the precinct committee Submit originals to UCDP, PO Box 81, Monroe Issue all meeting notices within the time frame outlined by the PoO Treasurer (not all written here) Only necessary when there is a precinct treasury Contact: Board of Elections and UCDP Treasurer John Kibler for process Transmit all record pertaining the office to successor within 10 days of vacating office
10 Grow your precinct committee (>5) to get a solid volunteer base Officers engaged and performing duties per PoO Actions and interaction through communication (phone bank, canvass, etc..) Listen to your precinct members and community Set realistic goals for your precinct

15 We will be creating a VB committee that will update VB and provide lists. Each precinct chair will get voter lists Save up to date information and we will update names, numbers, s etc. If it s not in VB it didn t happen!
16 Get to know your neighbors Have small, informal gatherings at your home or socialize with precinct folks at local restaurants, festivals, etc. Check the UCDP website or FB at least once-per-week: OR SWEET UNION BLUE (Facebook) Volunteers through website will be ed to precinct chairs with information Consider partnering with neighboring precincts to throw bigger events

18 Facebook and Twitter Post what your precinct is doing to elect Democrats Share posts about Democratic candidates running for office Hold Republicans Accountable for the injurious impact of their policies and legislation CAUTION: always stop, reread and consider before hitting POST -you represent UCDP
19 Effective precinct leaders know HOW to get in touch with their precinct committee members, as well as the preferred methods of contact. Create a contact list and share with your precinct officers and committee members Contact precinct members and volunteers regularly Share upcoming opportunities, events, and important UCDP information

Rorie First Vice Chair- whose top job is organizing and supporting precincts Bill Hutton Second Vice Chair- whose job is training and informational support Claudia Sandoval Third Vice Chair- whose top job is serving as publicity chair Jennifer Owen Treasurer- whose top job is managing county monies John Kibler Secretary- whose top job is maintaining records Alisha Allen Along with the Chair, all of these officers are expected to conduct their duties in accordance with the PoO, Campaign Finance Law, federal/state/county/municipal laws, and county party expectations.

22 Need to resign before your 2 year term ends: Give heads-up to precinct officers Notify the County Chair, 1 st VC, and all officers of the precinct committee- (snail mail or ) Per 1.04 of the PoO, within 10 days of resignation, all records pertaining to the office will be transferred to the successor If a Precinct Chair resigns- also transfer records to the Vice Chair Per 1.03 of the PoO- officer calls a precinct meeting within 30 days of resignation to replace the member who resigned and to fill in any other gaps that may result in shuffling officers and members.
