2 2 VOTER INFORMATION All Voters: Any person who is a citizen of the United States and is 18 years of age or will have reached that age prior to the next election can register to vote. In order to VOTE in the next election, your application to register or re-register must be received by the County Clerk at least 28 days prior to that election. You must re-register if you: 1. Legally changed your name (by marriage or otherwise). 2. Changed your residence. 3. Changed your party affiliation. Party affiliation may be changed at any time prior to the close of voter registration. Absentee voting is allowed for all county and state elections upon application to the office of Bernalillo County Clerk or the Sandoval County Clerk. The time to make application to vote by absentee ballot varies from election to election. Contact the County Clerk for further information. Its responsibilities are providing and maintaining flood protection and drainage, maintenance of ditches, canals, and distribution systems for irrigation. Its boundaries extend north to Cochiti Dam and south to the north boundary line of the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. Voters must own property within the benefitted area of the district. The Board of Directors, elected for 4 year terms, represents constituents from 4 counties and has one member-at-large. 15 ALBUQUERQUE METROPOLITAN ARROYO FLOOD CONTROL AUTHORITY (AMAFCA) AMAFCA is a political sub-division of the State of New Mexico created in 1963 to protect persons and property from flash floods. It is governed by a 5 member Board of Directors elected for staggered 6 year terms.
