1 Recommended Yr10 Revision materials By Department (2018) Listed below are the various materials available and recommended by the Manor CE Academy staff. 3 Child Development: Students are following the OCR Cambridge National Level 1/2 in Child Development. At the moment there is no revision guide available for this new course. Students will have a comprehensive set of class notes that they can use for revision purposes and have been informed that the exam element covers the following topics:- Family and home life Anatomy Re- production Pregnancy Labour and Birth Postnatal Care and Development There are some resources available to students through the shared resources section of the school network called ORCA which contain revision and testing power points. There is a text book for this course although it is very expensive and not a revision guide. Students do not need to have this textbook but may be able to loan it from a library during exam time. 4 Textiles: The following revision guide supports the AQA GCSE: Design and Technology course. This revision guide was offered to all Y10 students via parent s addresses in November and December The cost to purchase through school was 3.99 instead of a RRP of If there is sufficient demand then we can place another order. 6 History: RS: Ø Pupils have hard copies and access to electronic copies of extensive hand- out notes covering each of the four units. Further copies can be provided upon request. Ø Hodder Revision Guide My Revision Notes: AQA GCSE (9-1) History. It will include USA and Power and the People, but NOT Conflict and tension, or Medieval England. Ø All GCSE Students study AQA Religious Studies Specification A, both Component 1 The Study of Religious Beliefs, Teachings, and Practices (Christianity AND Islam), and Component 2 Thematic Studies (from a Christian perspective). Ø Students have access to Kerboodle, an online resource which they can access whenever and wherever. It allows them to access online copies of the course textbooks, and revision material including practice questions, notes and videos. Ø Students have access to a Year 11 Religious Studies Showbie Group. This will have revision tips and exam information added to it as the year progresses. Ø Students will also have dedicated revision lessons from February half term onwards. Ø Students will be given revision notes, example answers, and practice questions over the coming months to use in preparation for their exams.

Ø English Language language- 8700/assessment- resources Ø English Literature literature- 8702/assessment- resources Ø Regular reading of quality non- fiction leaflets, Metro, The i newspaper, Guardian, Times, Telegraph. (Online versions of broadsheets are mostly free.) Ø Reading fiction aimed at older teenagers or adults students can often download sample chapters for free on their ipads and could start with some of the texts we have studied extracts from in class. Ø York Notes published GCSE revision guides for Literature Ø Oxford Literature Companion series excellent resource for those aiming for grades 6-9. Ø BBC Bitesize English Language and English Literature Ø Ensure anything you access is tailored to the AQA exam board and the courses for 2017 examinations onward.
