This will eventually contribute to further development of the financial systems by building strong network between Asian officials and Korean financial institutions and professionals. 2

Korea Exchange - October 29 The KRX aims to be a 'World-Class Premier Exchange' as its vision. The KRX is making concerted efforts to establish an orderly capital market and achieve sustainable growth through providing trustworthy services for the society and build up 3

Bank of Korea - October 29 The Bank of Korea was originally established with a capital of 1.5 billion won, all of which was subscribed by the Government, but the amendment of the Bank of Korea Act in 1962 made the Bank a special juridical person having no capital. The primary purpose of the Bank, as prescribed by the Act, is the pursuit of price stability. The Bank sets a price stability target in consultation with the Government and draws up and publishes an operational plan including it for monetary policy. To this end, the Bank performs the typical functions of a central bank: issuing banknotes and coins, formulating and implementing monetary and credit policy, serving as the bankers' bank and the government's bank. In addition, the Bank of Korea undertakes the operation and oversight of the payment and settlement systems, and manages the nation's foreign exchange reserves. It also conducts supervisory functions for financial institutions as stipulated in the Bank of Korea Act. Industrial Bank of Korea - October 30 Since its foundation, IBK has devoted itself to financing the nation s small-and medium-sized enterprises and supporting customers. By acting as a stable partner of customers and a contributor to the national economy, IBK has grown into a leading bank of Korea. In 2011, It further strengthened its core competencies including growth potentials, soundness and 4

We are making a new take-off, in which we will grow and prosper with customers. 2) Seoul City Tour - October 31 Gyeongbokgung Palace It was in 1395, three years after the Joseon Dynasty was founded by Yi Seong-gye, when the construction of the main royal palace was completed and the capital of the newly founded dynasty moved from Gaeseong to Seoul (then known as Hanyang). The palace was named Gyeongbokgung, the "Palace Greatly Blessed by Heaven." With Mount Bugaksan to its rear and Mount Namsan in the foreground, the site of Gyeong-bokgung Palace was at the heart of Seoul and, indeed, deemed auspicious according to the traditional practice of geomancy. In front of Gwanghwamun Gate, the main entrance to the palace, ran Yukjo-geori (Street of Six Ministries, today's Sejongno), home to major government offices. Along the central axis upon which Gwang-hwamun Gate stood was the nucleus of the palace, including the throne hall, reception hall and king's residence. 5

6 Ministry of Strately and Finance Republic of korea The government ministry district and main buildings of Gyeongbokgung Palace formed the heart of the capital city of Seoul and represented the sovereignty of the Joseon Dynasty. After all the palaces in the capital were razed by the Japanese during the Hideyoshi invasions of 1592-'98, Changdeokgung, a secondary palace, was rebuilt and served as the main palace. Gyeongbokgung Palace was left derelict for the next 250 years. It was finally reconstructed in 1868 by the order of the Prince Regent. The palace the Prince Regent created was markedly different from the original. Some 500 buildings were built on a site of over 40 hectares and constituted a small city. The architectural principles of ancient China were harmoniously incorporated into both the tradition and the appearance of the Joseon royal court. Gyeongbokgung Palace was largely torn down during the Japanese occupation. Eighty-five percent of the restored buildings were dismantled, Gwanghwamun Gate was removed, and an enormous building housing the Japanese Government-General was constructed in front of the main sector of the palace. An effort to fully restore Gyeongbokgung Palace to its former glory has been ongoing since The colonial Government-General building was removed, and Heungryemun Gate was restored to its original state. The royal quarters and the East Palace for the crown prince were also restored to their original state. 6

After Japan s oppressive colonial rule and Korea s independence movement, the government of the Republic of Korea was founded upon the nation s liberation on August 15, After the Korean War, the Korean economy grew at a stellar pace, followed by the advancement of Korea s civil society. Within a mere 60-year span, Korea has achieved miracle after miracle never before witnessed in world history. The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History documents how Korea never lost hope and continued to move forward even in the darkest of times. Place Where the Past, Present, and Future Exist Together The Museum presents the stories that comprise Korea s modern and contemporary history, which still holds everyday relevance. The stars of the museum are the Korean people. The Museum documents the footprints of Korea s past, shares them with today s generations, and passes them down to future generations. It is where all generations, from grandparents to grandchildren, can communicate through history and become one. 7

The Museum provides a one-stop overview of how Korea has become what it is today. It is also where visitors can get a glimpse into tomorrow s Korea, a Korea of expanded global presence and greater economic power. There is no better place to gain an accurate understanding of Korea s past, present, and future. The Seodaemun Prison History Hall The museum preserves and displays Seodaemun Prison signifying the suffering and pain of Koreans during the modern period. Here, independence activists and pro-democracy activities were jailed and martyred. Despite such a history of suffering, Koreans achieved independence and democracy. The Seodaemun Prison History Hall represents the history of struggle to achieve Korea's independence and democracy with such indomitable spirit and potential. The topics of the discussion are: 1) Balancing the government budget 2) Securing the sound banking system 3) Aging population problem 9

Each panelist will be given 10~15 minute speech and each topic will not exceed 45 minutes including a Q&A session. 4) About Korea Banking Institute The Korea Banking Institute (KBI) was founded by a consortium of Korean domestic banks and the Bank of Korea in KBI is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop Korea s banking and financial industry by providing financial education services to industry professionals.
