TITLE : Subject:- Political Theory and Concepts ( Paper No IV ) Optional under the Faculty of Arts. 2. YEAR OF IMPLEMENTATION :- Revised Syllabus will be implemented from June 2009 onwards. 3. OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE:- This paper is an introductory to the concepts, ideas and theories in Political Science. It tries to explain the evolution and usage of these concepts. These concepts and theories will be studied historically and analytically. This Paper will help to understand the concepts with contemporary time. 4. DURATION :- The course shall be a full time course. The duration of course shall be three years. 5. PATTERN:- Pattern of examination will be Annual. 6. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:- As per eligibility criteria prescribed for each course and the merit list in the qualifying examination. 7. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION:- The medium of instruction shall be English or Marathi. 8. OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE:- This paper studies the major constitution of the world by adopting a Comparative approach. The constitutional and legal provisions, the ideological basis, the institutional arrangement and their social and economic background are to be explained, analyzed and evaluated critically. The historical background to individual constitutions are to be emphasized to gain an understanding of its evolution. The comparative perspective enables the student to understand the differences and similarities between the various constitutional arrangements. Furthermore the political Institutions are to be studied in light of the political process to gain an understanding of the dynamics of actual politics and policy making. 4.
