2 2 SYLLABUS FOR B.A. PART II POLITICAL SCIENCE SEMESTER-III PAPER- INDIAN GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS-I Max. Marks: 75 Pass Marks: 26 Time allowed: 3 hrs. INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PAPER SETTER/EXAMINER The question paper will consist of three Units I, II and III. Units I & II will have eight questions from the respective portion of the Syllabus and will carry 12 marks each. Unit III will consist of 9 shortanswer type questions which will cover the entire syllabus and will carry 27 marks in all. Each short answer type question will carry 3 marks. INSTRUCTION FOR THE CANDIDATES Candidates are required to attempt two questions each from Units I and II of the question paper and the entire unit III. Candidates are required to answer the short questions in not less than 50 words. Unit-I 1. A brief survey of the developments towards the making of Indian Constitution 2. Constituent Assembly and framing of Indian Constitution 3. Preamble and its importance 4. Basic features of India's Constitution 5. Centre-State relations: A critical analysis 6. Nature of Indian Federalism: Emerging Trends Unit-II 7. Fundamental Rights: Classification and assessment. 8. Fundamental Duties 9. Directive Principles of State Policy 10. President: Election, Powers and Position 11. Parliament: Composition, Powers and Role 12. Union Council of Ministers, Prime Minister: Appointment, Powers and Position.
