1 -----Original Message----- From: Paul Lamothe [mailto:] Sent: August 24, :59 AM To: 'Prime Minister/Premier ministre' Cc: 'Chuck Strahl, P.C., M.P.'; 'Pierre Lemieux'; Subject: RE: Office of the Prime Minister / Cabinet du Premier ministre Mr. Monteith, Thank you for the reply. However I must state that this issue, as well as many other issues, has been addressed before without any action. Minister Strahl as well as Ministers Prentice and Lemieux have had the concerns of the Algonquin land claim brought forward without any comments or action. To put this into perspective, earlier this year the chief of the real Ardoch, Bob Lovelace was jailed and the co -chief Paula Sherman was fined for protesting the uranium mine in Sharbot Lake. Meanwhile, Randy Malcolm sits at the negotiations table claiming to represent Ardoch. He left Ardoch with the same membership list as the REAL Ardoch's. The Mcguity government, as well as the federal, continues to support a flawed and corrupt process. Why? Are all land claim negotiations done this way? If so, no wonder the natives are restless. Was the government aware that there is an individual who has been under investigation for fraud currently sitting at the negotiations table? On June the 16th 2007 Ottawa withdrew its support of the Algonquin land claim due to the exclusion of the true Algonquins and the continued corruption. The minutes of the last meeting Ottawa attended are posted on the website However, to insure funding would continue a new Ottawa community was created by having 27 members of another community parachuted in. This third world style of politics was done and condoned under the watchful eye of both the federal (Robin Aitkens) and the provincial (Brian Crane) negotiators. Is this what Prime Minister Harper is talking about when he speaks of accountability? If the federal and provincial governments would take time to investigate and clean up the mess they have created the Caladonias of this country would not be happening.

2 During the last federal election I joined the conservative party of Canada as did many members and friends of my family. We joined because we were tired of the corruption in the other party. We would like to believe that we had a part in the election of Pierre Lemieux, the member for Prescott/Russell since he won by such a slim majority. There appears to be an election in the works. Since Mr. Lemieux did not see it as a priority to respond to my concerns as well as the concerns of many others is there any reason why we should vote for him in the next Election? In closing I would simply say that I am disappointed in the Harper government. The concerns of other countries seem to take precedent over the concerns of our own people. There is an old saying: "if you don't vote you don't have the right to complain". We joined the conservative party and contributed because we believed. It seems our sole responsibility in being a member is to insure there is enough funds within party coffers to fight an election. Can the Conservative party give me a reason why I should continue to support them? Paul Lamothe Chief, Ottawa Algonquin First Nation Ottawa ANR (tel) Original Message----- From: Prime Minister/Premier ministre [mailto:pm@pm.gc.ca] Sent: August 22, :04 AM To: Paul Lamothe Cc: Chuck Strahl, P.C., M.P. Subject: Office of the Prime Minister / Cabinet du Premier ministre Dear Chief Lamothe: On behalf of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, I would like to acknowledge receipt of your , in which you raised an issue that falls within the portfolio of the Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians.

3 Please be assured that your comments, offered on behalf of the Ottawa Algonquin First Nation, have been carefully reviewed. I have taken the liberty of forwarding your to Minister Strahl so that he too may be made aware of your comments. I am certain that the Minister will give your views every consideration. Thank you for writing to the Prime Minister. P. 4 August 12, 2008 Prime Minister Stephen Harper 24 Sussex Drive Ottawa, ON Dear Mr. Harper: I am writing to you about a subject that I've tried to have addressed by both Jim Prentice, former Minister of Indian Affairs, and now Chuck Strahl. My wife and I joined the Conservative party because of your honest approach and your commitment to accountability. Your entire platform revolved around accountability and considering the mess that the Liberals left the country in, we saw you as the bright star that was going to lead the way; so we joined the party. We not only joined the party, we also donated to your party. There is a saying that if you don't vote, you haven't got a voice; we thought by joining a party would at least have a say. Now, to get back to the first line of my letter, I was an Algonquin Negotiation Representative for the Ottawa area. On June 16, 2007, Ottawa withdrew from the negotiation table due to the corruption, the fixed elections, lack of accountability and the exclusion of the true Algonquin communities. Complaints were filed without acknowledgement, to the point where I even sent a package to our local MP, Pierre Lemieux, without as much as an acknowledgement. I've asked numerous times why an individual (Randy Malcolm) is sitting at the negotiations table collecting funding under fraudulent misrepresentation; I've never received a reply. The negotiator for Canada, Robin Aitkens, is well aware of the fraud that's going on within these negotiations and has stood by and did nothing. Your ministers, Mr. Strahl, as well as Mr. Prentice, are also well aware of this and have done nothing. Is this what is seen as accountability?

5 For months now we've been receiving donation requests from the Conservative party. Quite frankly, why should we support a party that ignores issues as the Liberals did for years? Is the Algonquin land claim going to be the ad scam of the Conservatives? That's where its headed. I trust that you will take a look at this and clear up the mess that has developed over the years. Thank you, and I hope to get a response. Sincerely, Paul Lamothe Chief, Ottawa Algonquin First Nation Ottawa ANR (tel) <
