2 Fares for children & young people... Applicable from 16th May 2011 Children Under 5 Children under the age of five years travel FREE, when accompanied by an adult passenger, up to a maximum of three children per customer. Children aged 5-10 years inclusive Reduced rate single journey tickets, usually approximately 2/3 of the regular fare are available to children aged 5-10 years. Most fares are rounded to multiples of 10p. Discount levels on some services may differ, particularly routes operated under contract to local authorities. Generally our staff will assume that all primary school children are within this age group, but parents may wish to consider purchasing an Under 16 s Photocard to prove entitlement to the reduced fare, especially if their child could be mistaken for being older. Discounted Rover (multi-journey) tickets are also available. Children aged years Children aged can travel at the reduced child rate upon production of an Under 16 s Photocard. Discounts levels on some services may differ, particularly routes operated under contract to local authorities. Children aged 11 and above who do not have an Under 16 s Photocard will be required to pay the Regular (adult) fare. Children who do not live within our operating area may use any other official proof of age card to obtain reduced rate travel on our bus services. Within West Yorkshire & Greater Manchester Areas Within West Yorkshire, child fares are subsidised by Metro, currently charged at half the adult fare. Children aged years must be in possession of a Metro Young Persons Photocard (no other photocard is acceptable) in order to travel at the half fare. Children with other ID passes may travel at our company s own discounted rates. Within the Greater Manchester area, child fares are subsidised by Transport for Greater Manchester, currently charged at half the adult fare. Children aged years must be in possession of an Igo pass (no other photocard is acceptable) in order to travel at the half fare. Children with other ID passes may travel at our company s own discounted rates.

3 Under 16 s Travelclub Children under 16 years of age can join our Under 16 s Travelclub. Membership costs 2.00 and an Under 16 s photocard is issued. Photocards are usually valid up until 31st August after the member s 16th birthday, allowing all children of Secondary School age (up to year 11) to travel at the reduced rate up to the end of the school year. Under 16 s photocard holders can travel at reduced rates: Discounted single journey fares are available on most services. This is usually around 2/3 of the regular (adult) fare. Discounts levels on some services may differ, particularly routes operated under contract to local authorities. Discounts on our range of Rover (multi-journey) tickets - a valid photocard must be shown when buying the ticket and each time it is used on-bus. Young People aged 16 to 19 years Young people aged between 16 and 19 years of age can join our Young Person s Travelclub. Membership costs 2.00 and a photocard is issued. Photocards are usually valid up until 31st August after the member s 19th birthday. Young Person s Photocard holders can travel at reduced rates: Discounted single journey tickets on most services. Discounts levels on some services may differ, particularly routes operated under contract to local authorities. 6 Terms & Conditions Everything you need to know All photocards shall remain the property of Rossendale Transport Limited. The entire management of the Travelclub will rest solely with Rossendale Transport Limited at all times. Photocards are not transferable and must only be used by the person whose name & photograph appears on the pass. All customers shall behave in accordance with the company s General Terms and Conditions of Carriage, in addition to any statutory rules and regulations. The company s General Terms & Conditions of Carriage may be inspected at the company s head office during the hours of opening. Rossendale Transport Limited shall have the power to expel or exclude any person whose conduct in its opinion shall render him unfit for use of the Travelclub. Any fraudulent use of the photocard may result in the card being withdrawn. In order to become a member of the Travelclub and obtain a valid photocard, you will need to provide appropriate proof of age a passport or birth certificate is acceptable and supply a passport style photograph which will be used on the pass. A fee of 2.00 is charged to all new members. Photocards must not be used after the expiry date shown on the card. Damaged or illegible photocards must be replaced (free of charge on the production of a damaged photocard). Lost or stolen photocards may be replaced at the full cost of 2.00 Photocards must be shown to the driver before requesting a ticket. Photocards must be shown to any inspector, or other company official, upon request. While Rossendale Transport Limited strives to ensure that all advertised services are provided, delays or other problems can be caused by circumstances beyond the company s control. A Photocard does not guarantee travel. The information contained within this leaflet is applicable from 16th May 2011, however Rossendale Transport Limited may amend, add to or revoke any rules at any time.
