SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE RECORDS The bulk of the records were kept by council director Jose H. Trejo ( ). They document the administration and activities of the council and reflect its educational, social, economic, and political services to the Hispanic community in Minnesota. The records include materials of director Eduardo Wolle. The records include council minutes ( ) and agenda/information packets ( ), the council newsletter ( , incomplete), background files ( ), director s correspondence ( ), task force files ( ), director s subject/correspondence files (ca ), Honeywell Hispanic Technical and Professional Education Project subject files ( ), community liaison representative project subject files ( ), Hispanic AIDS Education and Risk Reduction Project files ( ), and published records and reports ( ). The task force files include minutes, correspondence, and reports, and cover such topics as communications, economics, employment, education, Hispanic women, legislation, Chicano research, and social services and housing. The director s correspondence and subject/correspondence files deal with Hispanic assistance agencies and programs, cultural and religious organizations, educational programs, Hispanic celebrations and heritage, migrant needs and concerns, political awareness, and local Hispanic organizations. They also include copies of Hispanic organization newsletters, publicity files, and information on cases concerning discrimination against Hispanics in education and employment.

2 p. 2 The Honeywell Hispanic Technical and Professional Education Project( ) was to identify, recruit, train, and place Hispanic youth in technical and professional fields. It was initiated by Hispanic leaders and funded by a grant from Honeywell, inc. The files include project staff minutes, correspondence, articles of incorporation, project profile, and newspaper articles. The files of Elsa Vega Perez, the council s community liaison representative, deal mainly with various local Hispanic organizations, Hispanic assistance agencies and programs, and the task forces for collaboration, employment and education, and women. The Hispanic AIDS Education and Risk Reduction Project files document two programs covering prevention education and risk reduction in the Hispanic community. They were funded through the Minnesota Department of Health s AIDS Program Unit. The files include correspondence, proposals, evaluation instruments, and background materials. They also contain materials covering several related conferences and organizations, including the Minnesota Hispanic AIDS Partnership and meetings held at the Spring Hill Center.
