Questions from the Audience Gateway 2017 Conference OVC Funding for Human Trafficking survivor services Federal funding authorized by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 and reauthorizations Purpose: support organization in providing trauma-informed, culturally appropriate services for survivors of trafficking 2

3 Types of OVC Grants for HT Victims 1. Services to Victims of Human Trafficking Program Comprehensive Services Model Resource distribution among partners Includes Training Requirement ALL human trafficking victims 2. Specialized Services to Victims of Human Trafficking Program Specific service for trafficking victims Only need to serve one sub-population, but must have plan to be able to engage all Partner with existing grant recipients 3. Enhanced Collaborative Model to Combat Human Trafficking Program Service Provider and Law Enforcement applicant Includes Training Requirement Two types: New and Existing ALL human trafficking victims OVC Grant initiatives: 1. Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Program Services for all survivors of human trafficking, regardless of nationality, gender, age, type of trafficking Comprehensive Services are provided either inhouse or through project partners. 3

5 OVC Grant initiatives: 3. Enhanced Collaborative to Combat Human Trafficking Program Purpose: To support the development and enhancement of multidisciplinary HT task forces that implement collaborative approaches to combating all forms of HT within the US of foreign nationals and U.S. citizens (of all sexes and ages). Goals: Identify victims of all types of HT Investigate and prosecute sex trafficking and labor trafficking cases at the local, state, tribal, and federal levels Address the individualized needs of victims through the provision of a comprehensive array of quality services Elyse Dobney Chicago, IL 5

6 STOP-IT Program Objectives: Three main objectives of STOP-IT: Raise public awareness through trainings Enhance collaboration within the community Outreach & services to victims of trafficking: ovictims of sex and/or labor trafficking oany gender: male, female, transgendered oany age: minors or adults oany legal status: foreign or domestic Outreach / Services 24 hour hotline staffed by trafficking specialists, interns, volunteers Crisis intervention/support Trafficking assessment Case management services Drop-in for female-identified youth 6

8 Christine Shaw Raleigh, NC Since August 2011 In 2011 received a 2-year subcontract with the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault to provide case management to foreign born victims of human trafficking. The grant was to provide intensive case management to 12 victims of human trafficking. In 2014, we received the OVC Comprehensive Services Grant, which allowed us to begin expansion. 8
