4 Executive Summary The main goal of the EU 7 th Framework Programme project AGRICISTRADE has been to assess the trade potentials of the CIS 8 (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine) agro-food sectors. The project lasted for 36 months starting 1 Janaury 2014 up to 31 December Beginning from late 2014, when first findings were available up to end of the lifetime of the AGRICISTRADE project, all partners were eager to present the findings and make this project known to a broader audience. This audience included not only the scientific community, but also members of the administration at national and EU levels and representatives of the private sectors, predominantly from the agri-food sector. Several thousands of persons could be reached through the presenatation of AGRICISTRADE patners. Keywords: Workshops; Conferences; public sector; private sector; CIS countries 4
5 1. Introduction and Background This task refers to the participation of AGRICISTRADE consortium members to any events in which they could disseminate the project results throughout the project duration. Once first findings had been achieved, i.e. starting in late 2014, all AGRICISTRADE partners were very active in spreading them in order to improve the impact of this project. All AGRICISTRADE partners were eager to present results at national and international workshops, seminars and conferences. The target group in general comprised researchers of the scientific community working in agri-food trade, but also national and international policy makers and agri-food trade representatives. These workshop, seminars and conferences were mainly held in the CIS countries, Europe and North America. On average, the number of audiences came up to more than hundred persons, ranging from about 50 to more than 1,000. A list of the workshops, seminars and conferences where AGRICISRADE partners gave presentations is attached in the Annex. The highlights concerning the scientific community had been the organisation of a special session at the 13 th Conference of the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE), held in Milan, Italy in August In addition, AGRISTRADE partners organised the 155 th Seminar of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) European Agriculture towards 2030 Perspectives for further East-West Integration held in Kiev, Ukraine at September This had been the first EAAE seminar ever held in a CIS country. Besides the scientific community, AGRICISTRADE approached representatives of the public administrations at national and EU levels as well as representatives of agri-food trade organisations representing the private sector. These stakeholder meetings could only be organised during the second part of the lifetime of the project when first findings could be presented and dicussed. These stakeholder meetings were held in Vilnius (17 November 2015), Moscow (20 October 2016) and Brussels (30 November 2016). On average, these meetings were attended next to AGRICISTRADE partners by invited 10 to 15 stakeholders which ensured very lifely discussions. Although the AGRICISTRADE project has come to end by the end of 2016, many of the findings are of high interest in the next one or two years, particularly to the scientific community. All partners are busy in presenting results at national and international workshops, seminars and conferences in The major highlight will be the XV EAAE Congress to be held in Parma/Italy, 29 August 1 September It is planned to have a special organised session presenting AGRICISTRADE findings at this conference. 2. Conclusions It can be concluded that all AGRICISTRADE project partners contributed to improving the understanding of the role of the agri-food sector in the eight CIS countries for the EU and international trade. The key findings were spread among the people concerned. The target audience was not only the scientific community, but also members of the public administrations at national and EU levels and the private sector (i.e. the agri-food business). In total, several thousands of people were familiarised with the AGRICISTRADE project and its key findings. 5
