1 STATISTICAL REPORT - OVERVIEW NIGER Flow Monitoring Points (FMP) IOM firmly believes in humane and orderly migration for all and all data reported through the flow monitoring aims to inform and highlight a migratory phenomenon in an area with dangers for migrants (challenging climate, dangerous road conditions, vulnerability to trafficking/other exploitation/abuse). Proportionally, the flows measured by IOM in the Agadez region are heavily concentrated on the route to and from the Libyan border. Migrants going towards Libya represent 68% of recorded migrants while those coming from Libya to represent 2%. The outoing flows during the past month continue to decrease while the incoming flows fluctuate. This time last month the incoming flow was over 16 whereas this week indicated around 11 migrants going towards Libya and Algeria. The incoming flows have fluctuated between and in the past month. The graph below details the weekly incoming and outgoing flows. O UTGOING A ND I NCOMING F LOWS O VER T I ME 2 1 Flow Flow The tables below demonstrate the nationalities observed at each flow monitoring point. While iens remain the highest nationality at both flow monitoring points (representing 3% of all recorded migrants at both flow monitoring points ) there is a distinction in the nationalities present. The main nationalities present in the flow to and from Libya (from Séguédine) are ians and ns, closely followed by ese and Ivoirians. The nationalities going to and from Algeria (from Arlit) are mainly ans, Cameroonians, Burkinabes and ns. These differing nationalities could relate to intentions of migrants but also to smuggling/transport networks. The networks for one or another nationality group could be more established towards one destination than another, demonstrating the importance of communication between migrants and smugglers and of knowledge networks. Séguédine Nationalities Arlit Nationalities FUNDING ia -Bissau Libya Cameroon ia -Bissau Liberia Republic of Congo Central African Republic Data collection at the flow monitoring points is made possible by funding from the European Union and the Department for International Development (DFID). 2 WEEKLY STATISTICAL REPORT NIGER Flow Monitoring Points (FMP) Reporting period: 14 June June 216 Flow monitoring points are placed at known migrant passing points along the migratory route. Data is collected daily at FMPs to inform migrant movements and profiles. The data collected provides a snapshot of migrant movements through the region. The numbers are collected from primary sources and do not claim to reflect all migrants passing through the flow monitoring points.
