11 Community ID Card: IMPACT Recent focus group of 150 people renewing their ID card found 95% said they found the card very useful (law enforcement, city agencies, health centers, schools, businesses, cultural arts orgs),and the card made them feel safer and more a part of the community (greater loyalty to the city, and more willing to cooperate with law enforcement and other agencies). 13 FaithAction International House Greensboro, NC Primary Uses of FaithAction ID: Law enforcement (ex: keeps people from going to jail for simply not having a valid form of ID, builds trust between officers and community) City agencies (ex: access to services from Water Department, Parks and Recreation, Libraries, Municipal Credit Unions) Health Centers (ex: medical appointments and records, visitation, applying for medical benefits, billing) Schools (ex: registration, volunteering, picking up child from school, school records) Businesses (ex: opening a bank account, transferring money) Cultural Arts Organizations (ex: special discounts on memberships and tickets to museums and theaters)

18 Why a Community ID Card Mayor Cranley formed Immigration Taskforce in 2014 Immigration Taskforce researched & recommended card Card well received immigrant and other vulnerable populations (e.g. Re-entry, Homeless) Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 19 The Resolution Initial push for the City to pass a law recognizing the card After months of talks, resolution passed on May 11, 2016 CCSWO had 90 days from the resolution passing to hold first ID Drive CCSWO distributes the card on behalf of MARCC

20 Our First Six Months August 9, first training with the City of Greensboro August 16, dry run to ensure we were ready August 20, first drive, over 600 participated Present - 6 ID drives in total, 1 drive at a jail Over 1100 cards distributed to date
