3 NEKAJ O KANADI Kanada je druga največja država na svetu, saj se razteza na m² V njej živi ljudi najrazličnejših ras ter narodov Kanadska kraljica je britanska kraljica Elizabeta II., vendar pa njuno delo v državi opravljata guvernerka Adrienne Clarkson ter premier Jean Chretien Glavno mesto Kanade je s svojimi prebivalci Ottawa iz province Ontaria, vendar pa je največje kanadsko mesto Toronto z več kot prebivalcev
4 Priznana sta dva uradna jezika: angleščina in francoščina Vera je zelo raznolika največ je Katoličanov (47%), sledijo protestanti, judje, muslimani, budisti,... Podnebje se giblje od najmrzlejših področij s stalno zamrznjenimi tlemi permafrostom, pa vse do bolj toplih krajev Zaradi svoje velikosti se v državi pojavlja kar 6 časovnih pasov vzhodni del države za Greenwichom zaostaja 3 ure in pol, zahodni pa 8 ur Najvišja gora v Kanadi je Mount Logan s svojimi 6050 metri nadmorske višine Kanada ima kar nekaj velikih jezer največje, ki je hkrati tudi največje jezero v Severni Ameriki, je Superior (Gornje jezero) s kar km² površine
5 Najdaljša reka v državi je reka Mackenzie, dolga kar 4241 kilometrov, najpomembnejša plovbena reka pa je s svojimi 3058 kilometri St. Lawrence Kanadska obala je s svojimi kilometri najdaljša na svetu Čez celotno površino se pojavlja 6 osnovnih različno oblikovanih površij: Veliko nižavje, Kordiliere, Kanadsko arktično otočje, Velika jezera ter nižine Sv. Lawrencea, Kanadski Ščit, in Appalacio Rastlinstvo je predvsem subarktično in arktično pojavlja se tundra, permafrost, prerije, gozdovi, v katerih najdemo tudi najvišje drevesne vrste na svetu cedre in ki skupaj pokrivajo polovico državne površine, hkrati pa predstavljajo 10% celotnega gozda na Zemlji Ima 38 narodnih parkov, ki skupaj pokrivajo kar 2% celotne državne površine, od katerih je najstarejši park Banff
6 Kanadska nacionalna športa sta hokej in polo (lacrosse) Značilne živalske vrste so: bober, vidre, lososi, losi, severni jeleni, medvedi, grizliji, Kanadska gos, številne vrste kitov (tudi orke), mroži in tjulni
7 Zaščitni znaki države sta javorjev list in bober Kanada ima bogato naravno bogastvo zlato, srebro, minerale, premog Osnovna valuta je Kanadski dolar, sestavljen iz 100 centov, ki je vreden nekaj več kot 153 tolarjev Skupno dolžina glavnih cest v državi znaša kilometrov, skupna dolžina železniških tirov pa kilometrov; poleg tega imajo urejene tudi vodne ter zračne poti največja letalska družba je Air Canada V državi je 480 zasebnih radijskih postaj ter 110 zasebnih televizijskih programov, leta 1996 pa je Kanada imela tudi 107 dnevnih časopisij od katerih je najbolj znan Toronto Sun Kanada je zaradi svoje velikosti razdeljena na 10 provinc ter 3 teritorije, od katerih ima vsak kar nekaj svojih edinstvenih značilnosti:

10 ZANIMIVOSTI Kanada je današnjo podobo zastave dobila šele 15. Februarja leta 1965 predtem je uporabljala zastavo Angležev Himna O, Canada je bila spisana že leta 1880, vendar pa je bila razglašena za državno himno šele 1. Julija 1980 Država ima izredno majhno poseljenost, saj na 1 km² živijo le 3 prebivalci; poleg tega pa je znana tudi po tem, da prebivalstvo sestavljajo najrazličnejši narodi
11 V provinci Ontario, natanšneje, v mestu Toronto, stoji najvišja samostoječa stavba na svetu CN Tower, ki meri v višino kar 553,3 metrov Vsako leto Niagarski slapovi privabijo na milijone turistov Ima najdaljšo državno cesto, ki se razprostira od zahoda do vzhoda države in je dolga kar 7821 kilometrov V Torontu se nahaja tudi najdaljša ulica na svetu South Young, dolga kar 1,900.5 kilometrov V Kanadi je tudi najdaljši pokriti most, dolg kar 390 metrov
12 Ima tudi najdaljšo obalno linijo (seveda če upoštevamo tudi obalo vseh otokov) le-ta je dolga kar kilometrov V državi je poskrbljeno tudi za zadovoljstvo državljanov, saj lahko vsakdo pošlje kakršnokoli pismo na parlament brez plačevanja poštnine
