3 HELLO F R O M AMERICAMP CANADA 3 Welcome to AmeriCamp Canada! We are so excited to introduce you to a new era of international staffing! AmeriCamp Canada is the sister brand to AmeriCamp, the fastest growing cultural exchange company in the UK. AmeriCamp is the founding brand of the Invasion Group and last year successfully placed over 1,400 staff in summer camps all across the United States. Globally Invasion send over 20,000 passengers worldwide and run a number of voluntary projects focusing on teaching and conservation including Camp Thailand, Camp Cambodia and Camp South Africa. We pride ourselves on recruiting highly skilled, matured and well rounded staff to work at our summer camps and have received excellent feedback from Camp directors in over 100 camps. We have launched AmeriCamp Canada as we have seen a huge demand in the UK market for summer camp placements in Canada, we have successfully placed a number of staff in camps located in Québec, and Ontario in summer 2017 and now want to roll the programme out across Canada. We offer a personalised, tailor made service to both applicants and employers and due to the relationship we have with AmeriCamp we can skill match your staff to your exact requirements. 4 OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS 4 We work closely with multiple university societies and sports clubs across the UK, Ireland and Australia to recruit staff with specific skill sets valuable to camp. For the application process, each applicant fills out a detailed application form highlighting specific skills and relevant experience, this is also supported by 3 references and an application video. We generally look for staff that are over the age of 19 by the time summer starts, and have teaching experience in their chosen fields. Potential general camp counselors must have proven extensive childcare experience. For French speaking camps we work with multiple French societies across the UK so you will have access to a wide variety of staff who are actively engaged and practicing the French language. We then conduct a face to face interview to ensure maturity and suitability for the programme, we have a team of over 60 interviewers nationwide that have taken part in camp themselves and have gone through extensive training to ensure the applicants are suitable to work in a camp environment. Once the applicant has successfully passed the interview we then obtain a full criminal background check and full health history report, which are screened carefully before we recommend them for placement. We maintain very high standards with our recruiting, we look for mature and enthusiastic young adults who are applying to the programme for the right reasons. International staffing brings a huge opportunity for your campers to engage with staff from all over the world and learn about their cultural, customs, language and accents!
5 PLACEMENT PROCESS 5 Where possible our placement team will endeavour to meet you in person to discuss your requirements and ensure we understand your camp and the type of person you are looking to hire. You will be assigned a personal placement co-ordinator who will work on matching the perfect staff member to your requirements. In addition you will also have access to our online portal where you can search through the wide range of staff available to hire. If you see an applicant you like on the system or if your placement co-ordinator suggests someone they think is suitable you can reserve their application for 5 working days to give you time to arrange a Skype interview with them. If they are successful in your interview you have the option to hire them directly.
6 CAMP FAIRS 6 We are hosting face to face camp fairs in the UK in January where we invite camp directors looking to hire over 8 staff to attend in person to either (or both) the Leeds fair on the 17th and London on the 19th January. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet a wide range of skilled participants face to face, get a real feel from them and potentially hire them on the spot. Please note accommodation and return travel is included for the camp fair, so you have no excuse not to join us for a cheeky trip to the UK! LEEDS 17th JAN 2018 LONDON 19th JAN 2018
7 BEFORE CAMP 7 The Work Permit: We work with each applicant to work out which work permit is most suitable, we do encourage our applicants to apply for the working holiday permit and if unsuccessful we will support them with the help of our immigration agency to apply for the temporary work permit. Staff on the temporary work permit will be supported by an immigration package confirming their job offer with camp and all documentation required to apply for the visa on the border. Support before camp: We have been running successful mandatory orientations for our AmeriCamp brand for the past 5 years and intend to do the same for our Canada participants, we spend half a day in house explaining exactly the participants should expect at camp. We cover everything from the visa process, insurance, homesickness, behavior expectation and what happens if they need to leave camp early. Social Insurance Number, Bank Account and Health Insurance: The Camp Canada team will then meet the participants on the ground in the arrival city to assist them to set up the SIN and a local bank account, in addition all participants are covered with 10 weeks of medical insurance.
8 8 IMPORTANT INFORMATION During the Summer: Both staff and directors will have access to a 24 hour emergency line should any issues arise during the summer, we will also endeavor to visit in person each camp over the summer to check in with everyone and ensure everything is running smoothly. Early Departures: In the unlikely events that a participants is not the correct fit for camp, is fired or needs to leave for unforeseen circumstances camps will receive a pro rated reimbursement of the recruitment fee plus a discount against the next participant hired. Direct Hiring s and Returners: In the event that you recruit an international staff member externally from AmeriCamp Canada, or that a staff member is looking to return back to camp for another summer, we are able to supply Work Permit assistance, health insurance and relevant documentation at no charge to the camp. The AmeriCamp Canada Team: We are made up of numerous professional individuals who come equipped with experience in handling international applicants to provide staffing opportunities. We work extremely closely with university and sport societies and individuals to provide staff with the best abilities for camp, this tends to be skills such as outdoor education, watersports and lifeguards. All of our staff have completed summer seasons in either American or Canadian Summer Camps.
9 SERVICE FEES 9 The fee to AmeriCamp Canada is one set fee for each participant based on a 9 week contract for residential camp and 11 weeks for day camps, this also includes the salary due to the participant. For contracts longer than 9 weeks additional salary is paid to the applicant, no fees are due AmeriCamp Canada. These fees include: Access to a large amount of skilled applicants. Should you need anything specific that we aren t currently advertising, we can source these applicants from over 1500 staff in our US programme. Support for your new staff members so when they are due to arrive at camp, so they arrive fully prepared and ready to work. Support throughout the summer via a 24/7 contact line for both the camp and the staff member. 90 days fully comprehensive medical insurance for the applicant. We work with each camps individually to ensure you get access to the most suitable applicants, and we guarantee the most competitive fees in the industry and have an excellent introduction scheme. Discounts also apply for registered non for profit and underprivileged camps.
10 NEXT STEPS 10 What do you need to do for the staff? Your main responsibility will be to provide safe and a beneficial working experience for our international staff members, provide on site accommodation and 3 meals per day. Provide staff with a minimum of 24 hours off each week and help facilitate this time off camp grounds. Conduct a thorough interview with potential hires before making a decision to hire to ensure they are the right fit for your camp Provide staff members with information such as job descriptions, duties and rules specific for the camp, this can be provided through training as well as throughout the work placement. Provide one way travel from the host Canadian city to camp Provide food and accommodation as well as any required uniform (if necessary) Allow contact to home/the AmeriCamp Canada office in own time. Work with us in the unlikely event that you re having any difficulties with an international staff member during placement to resolve any issues.
