7 US$MN Per cent Overview Table 1 JAMAICA'S REMITTANCES (US$MN) June June % Change** * Change Total Remittance Inflows Remittance Companies^ Other Remittances Total Remittance Outflows Net Remittances * Provisional ** Growth relative to the corresponding period of the previous year ^ Flows through Remittance Companies Source: Bank of Jamaica Graph 1 Historical Trend in Remittance Inflows June Five year average = June 2016 For June 2016, net remittances were US$174.5 million, an increase of US$1.2 million or 0.7 per cent relative to the corresponding month of 2015 (Table 1). The growth in net remittance inflows reflected an increase in total remittance inflows which was offset by an expansion in remittance outflows. Gross remittance inflows for the month were US$195.0 million, an increase of US$6.6 million or 3.5 per cent relative to the corresponding month of the previous year. These inflows were US$22.1 million above the five-year average of US$172.9 million (Graph 1). The increase in total remittance inflows reflected a US$7.7 million or 34.2 per cent improvement inflows through the Other Remittances, which was partially offset by a US$1.2 million or 0.7 per cent decline in flows through Remittance Companies (Table 1) Remitt Inflows (LHS) 5 year average (LHS) Remitt grwth% (RHS) Source: Bank of Jamaica Economic Information & Publications Department 1

The outturn for the review period reflected an increase in gross remittance inflows, partially offset by a growth in outflows. For the review period, total remittance inflows were US$ million, an increase of US$36.4 million or 3.3 per cent. These inflows were US$93.5 million above the five-year average of US$ million (Graph 2). 9 Table 3 JAMAICA'S REMITTANCES (US$MN) Apr-June Apr-June 2015/ /17* Change % Change** Total Remittance Inflows Remittance Companies^ Other Remittances Total Remittance Outflows Net Remittances April to June 2016/17 For the first three months of the 2016/17 fiscal year, net remittances totalled US$535.7 million, an increase of US$21.1 million or 4.1 per cent relative to the corresponding period of the last fiscal year. This growth reflected an increase in gross remittance inflows which was partially offset by a increase in outflows. * Provisional ** Growth relative to the corresponding period of the previous year ^ Flows through Remittance Companies Source: Bank of Jamaica US$MN Graph 3 Historical Trend in Remittance Inflows Apr-June 2007/ / Five year average= Per cent Total remittance inflows for the review period were US$592.2 million, an increase of US$27.2 million or 4.8 per cent compared to the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal year. These inflows were US$78.1 million above the five-year average of US$514.1 million (Graph 3). The growth in total remittance inflows emanated from increases of US$9.5 million and US$17.7 million in both the Remittance Companies and Other Remittances sub-categories, respectively (Graph 3).
