1 Blue Jean Ball Saturday, October 22, 2011 Tullie Smith Farm The Atlanta History Center 6:30-7:00 p.m. VIP Reception 7:00-10:30 p.m. Party Honorary Chairs Ansley & Charlie Crawford Four and a half years ago, the Atlanta Police Department and the Atlanta Police Foundation established Crime Stoppers to help engage citizens in the effort to improve public safety. What started as an effort to reduce crime in the city of Atlanta has now become one of the most effective crime solving tools used by more than 60 law enforcement agencies and communities throughout greater Atlanta. Since inception in January 2007, Crime Stoppers has helped investigators solve more than 335 cases and has paid out more than $282 thousand in rewards for anonymous tips that have helped put more than 267 dangerous criminals behind bars and out of our communities. To celebrate its success and to help support its ongoing mission to get criminals off our streets, Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta is hosting the first annual Blue Jean Ball on Saturday, October 22, A core group of influential community members and supporters have been invited to serve as Neighborhood Leaders and help make this a successful event. We are honored to count you as one of the Neighborhood Leaders for the 2011 Blue Jean Ball. As a Neighborhood Leader, you are asked to become an advocate for Crime Stoppers in your community and recruit 10 people from your neighborhood to purchase tickets and attend the event on Oct. 22. We look forward to a fun-filled, successful 2011 Blue Jean Ball. All Proceeds benefit the Crime Stoppers Reward Fund to help take dangerous criminals off the streets of Atlanta. 2 About Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta Mission To assist metro Atlanta police agencies in solving crimes by providing cash incentives for anonymous information, allowing citizens to directly impact the safety of their communities. Program Overview Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta is a community based nonprofit program that serves all metro area law enforcement agencies and communities. In January 2007, the Atlanta Police Foundation, in partnership with the Atlanta Police Department, launched Crime Stoppers Atlanta- the first program in metro Atlanta that directly engages the community to impact crime reduction and public safety. Today, there are more than 60 participating metro Atlanta and federal law enforcement agencies. Through an anonymous tip line, a secure online tool, a text messaging system and iphone and Android applications, Crime Stoppers provides an avenue for citizens to anonymously report information about criminal activity, or criminals' whereabouts, and incentivizes them with monetary rewards if the information leads to an arrest and indictment. The information provided through Crime Stoppers helps law enforcement agencies in their investigations and can play a major role in reducing the time from investigation to apprehension and in securing convictions. The success of the program is based on the collective effort of the entire community- by working with police, the public becomes an effective force toward making communities safer. Since its inception, Crime Stoppers has helped solve more than 335 major crimes and capture more than 267 dangerous criminals. The growth and impact of the program has been bolstered by the launch of several strategic initiatives in 2010: Burglary Stoppers- a partnership with the Fulton County District Attorney and the Fulton County Multi-Jurisdictional Burglary Task Force to help capture burglars and address increasing burglaries in Fulton County. Campus Crime Stoppers -a partnership with Atlanta Public Schools to provide a safe outlet for students to report crimes and help address juvenile crime rates, resulting in safer schools. Fugitive Stoppers- a partnership with the U.S. Marshals' Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to identify and capture wanted criminals in metro Atlanta. Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta pays up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of criminals who commit type I crimes- murders, robberies, armed robberies, burglaries, rapes and assaults Since Inception (Jan. 2007) Tips received 1,475 5,717 Arrests made Cases cleared Fugitives caught Rewards Approved $100,188 $285,642 I 0 lllluejaanlallaam
