3 Key Club International Illinois and Eastern Iowa District Secretary May 30th, 2014 Volume 1Issue 3 News from Nissa Hello Key Clubbers! If your reading this it means you survived your finals in one piece. Good job! Currently 53 clubs have turned in directories. That is 20 more since this time last month and means we have had 25% of clubs in our division turn them in! We are a third of the way to our goal of 75% of cubs turning them in on time. Thank you so much for turning these in; this will make contact with you much easier!! If your school is among those who have not turned in directories and you ve held elections, be sure to see they get turned in! Just because the school year is over, does not mean your hours of service have to stop! Be sure to ask your advisor or your lieutenant governor of service opportunities in your area! Check with your LTG or me to make sure your club has 100% reporting! On-Time Reporting: Given to clubs who submit all monthly reports on or before their due date. Hey Mighty I-I District Clubs! My name is Lizzie Harper and I am your Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Statistical Secretary! Remember to keep reporting by the 10th, the next report is due September 10th for the reports of June, July, and August! Through the year I will be working very closely with you and the district board to make this year as successful as possible! I plan to increase the percentage of clubs turning in their monthly reports by contacting clubs who aren't turning them in. I hope that each month will increase by 10% from the previous year. The percent of reports for the month of April was 48%. If you have not all ready reported for the previous months, you still can send in the reports to get the 100% reporting award. There is a tutorial on how to fill out monthly reports on the I-I key club website. If you want to be forwarded this tutorial, please contact me or your Lt. Governor. 8 Key Club Member of the Month! In each Iolian and District Mailing, the I-I District will feature two to four Key Club members of the month! For this month of June, our Key Club members of the month are Bailey Elliot, from Pecatonica High School in Division 12, and Elsabeth Sanders, from Carbondale Community High School in Division 36. Congratulations on a job well done! Elsabeth Sanders It is her first year in key club, she has participated in every fundraiser, attended every meeting and this year attended District Convention and was really inspired by it. She's been one of the most active freshman. She also attended the St. Jude's Radio-a-thon that we had recently and really participated this month more than any other member. Bailey Elliot Bailey frequently asks how he can help with service projects. He has excellent attendance and is always willing to step in with service hours. He fearlessly and selflessly promotes Key Club to other students.

11 Charter a New Key Club? If you have any questions, feel free to contact: Jennifer Zhuo at jennifer.zhuo16@gmail.com or (312) Charter Help from Lieutenant Governor Club Officers Recruit Other Members Student Body The Chartering Process starts with one of three check places that must be completed to finish a charter: School, Kiwanis club, and Students. The Kiwanis Club helps fund the charter fee and provides a Kiwanis advisor to assist the Club. The School provides a meeting place and a faculty advisor to help the club. The Students make up the members and serve around their area. Together, they fill out the chartering form online. The Lieutenant Governor assists along the way and after the club is developed.

13 June District Mailing K Family Relations CKI District Mailing In the K Family, one of the most important relations is the bond between the Key Club and the Circle K club at a nearby college. This is so important because this relationship will get people interested in getting involved in their Circle K if they attend college. Because we want to strengthen this bond, we will be allotted a page in the Circle K district mailing. In this page, our main goal will be to let the Circle K members know when and where the big events in the district are. The K Family relations committee encourages all you to write a short article on the major service opportunities that your school will be offering. This will go on to your Lieutenant Governor, who will then the article to our committee. This is so vital to bridging the gap between Key Club and Circle K because a lot of the CKI members have been through Key Club and they love to help out at all of our service projects and fundraisers. Once they start to help out at more and more projects, we hope that students will start going to some of their service projects as well and see that Circle K is something that they want to get involved in. Sponsoring Kiwanis Club Another relationship that is very important to your Key Club is the one between your club and the sponsoring Kiwanis Club in your area. They are very resourceful and love to help out wherever and when ever they can. They are able to provide extra workers for service projects, or they could help give your club members extra money when they are trying to go to different events like District Convention or Key Leader. If your club does not have a sponsoring Kiwanis Club or their sponsoring club is not as helpful as you would like them to be, please contact anyone on our committee and we will be able to fix the problem. We hope that you utilize all of the different branches of the K Family as they are all there to help all of your clubs thrive throughout the year. Contact Information Gary Heath: garyh4252@yahoo.com Joe Whang: jwhangg@aol.com Kate Saulcy: kate.saulcy@gmail.com Jeremy Goodsnyder: jeremygoodsnyder@att.net Important Note Make sure to keep an eye out for the K Family awards that will be available later in the year along with important news concerning Key Leader.
