DISCUSSION FEPPP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE April 25, 2017 Attendance: Call to Order: Acting Chair Linda Jekel, Representative Sharon Tomiko Santos, Cristina Diaz, Carol Coe, Mark Minickiello, Gina Stark and Tracy Godat Via Phone: Pam Whalley Committee Reports: Committee Reports: A. Education Committee B. Communication Committee C. Development Committee Minutes are approved as written Tracy gave the CAO report Education Committee: Pam Whalley gave the Education Committee report. We trained 14 FEPPP Financial Fellows. The training was very successful. Pam would like to change her presentations from WA ACTE to the FACS and BAM conferences. We will use Communication Committee funds to send Pam on behalf of FEPPP. The advanced materials training is in Vancouver April 20. We have a Fellows representative coming to give a presentation. Pam would like us to be able to send a press release into the areas of the fellows. Development Committee: Communication Committee: Linda Jekel reported for the Communication Committee. Just getting started again for this year. Events will be in August and October. Thanks to Tracy to get articles out and website updates. Development Committee: Mark Minickiello reported for the Development Committee. We are coming to the end of the fiscal year. We have $2,000 in the budget for equipment. Tracy would like a new laptop for the teacher trainings. A motion was passed to use up to $1,500 to reallocate funds, if necessary, from the Dev committee to purchase the laptop. Fundraising. Tracy and Mark met with Representative Santos prior to the Executive Committee meeting. She gave us additional talking points to go forward with new contacts. We potentially would like to do a small cocktail party in Olympia. Gina reported on the successful Bellingham Community Conversation. We learned a great deal. We realize things we can do differently for the next one. We will improve on the call to action for the next event. The next event is in May in Everett. Tracy will send a survey to those who attended to see input on how we can make it better. Old Business: A. Standards Implementation Update Standards Implementation: Carol gave the implementation update. We continue to meet as the standards implementation team. The next steps 1

June 27 GFM Meeting are to get feedback from OSPI on how to proceed with the existing alignment work. Gina reported on the educational savings account bill. Still in the House appropriations. Also, SB 5100 is a bill that requires an institution of higher education to provide financial education. House budget came out. We will make sure to find out if FEPPP funding is in there. Linda reported on Financial Literacy Month. DFI is sending out a press release with a statement from Representative Santos and the governor s office. Linda will be reading with elementary students. Tracy and Cristina are also reading with elementary students. New Business Good of the Order Adjourn The June General FEPPP Membership meeting is June 27. That is during the Novice training. We will combine the GFM meeting and the teacher training which will be held in Tacoma. Gina Stark reported that she and Clinton Taylor are going today to New Holly, a Seattle alliance church, for a presentation on community financial education. Mark Minickiello reported Harborstone Credit Union are opening a Financial Empowerment Center in Olympia. All Executive Committee members are invited to come. The event is April 19. May 2017 Report of the FEPPP Chief Administrative Officer By Tracy Godat I have been working on the following key projects. Below I will provide a description of work to date: Community conversations, monitor and update website; individual committee work; monitor legislation, meet with partners and miscellaneous operating tasks. Continue meetings with OSPI staff for updates on professional development and implementation. Budget Reporting: I continue to work with OSPI and the Development Committee on FY 16/17 monthly reports. We are in the beginning stages of preparing for FY 17/18. Individual Committee Work: Executive Committee - Continue regular update meetings with Representative Santos. Education Committee We continue to receive curriculum review applications. I will continue to hand them over to the Education Committee for review. I have been working with the new FEPPP Financial Fellows concerning their district presentations. I was invited by one of our Fellows to serve on the Olympia School District CTE Board. I participated in my first board meeting. I continue to process sub reimbursements, travel reimbursements and other inquiries relating to all committee work and teacher trainings. We are registering educators for the Novice training at the end of June. Development Committee ongoing updates to the budget. The informational reception was a success. I mailed thank you notes to each guest as well as our sponsor, Harborstone Credit Union. I met with Katrina to start conversations around future Community Conversations. We discussed what worked and what didn t. She is starting to compile email addresses for community members. We hope to have the next one in September. Communications Committee continue to work on web updates, upcoming conferences and newsletter. I was able to finalize and print the updated brochure in time for the informational reception. Miscellaneous Operating Tasks: My administrative assistant has taken a new position. I was able to hire a new FEPPP Program Assistant which has required time training. I attended the Financial Capability Summit. I also volunteered at the WSECU reality fair in Northgate. I was able to spend time to reading with two elementary classes for the Money Smart Week campaign. I will continue meeting with Learning and Teaching staff at OSPI for standards implementation and professional development opportunities. I will also have bi-monthly meetings to update OSPI Chief-of-Staff, Jamila Thomas, on the work of FEPPP.

We continue to seek volunteers to write 500 word articles about their work bringing financial education to students. FEPPP brochure update is now completed and the new brochure will be used at upcoming Outreach Events. Website: We are working with Tracy at OSPI on updates to the website. Meetings: Our last quarterly meeting was held on September 23 rd. The next teleconference meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 30 th from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Budget: The Communication budget has been reduced to $1,000 for the FY2017 2017 work plan: In progress: Planning for 2017 conferences and requesting presenters.
