Jan 1, 2019 AR-E Ride Coordinator recognized Skip Klink & New Members 1 2019 Activities 2-3 New Event Poker Run 4 Polar Bear Run 5-6 My Motorcycle taught me. 7 Announcement 8 Facebook 9 One Country 10 New members Skip Klink was recognized for one of his many accomplishments over many years in GWRRA Chapter E. Skip took over the Ride Coordinator position November, 2011 and asked to resign as of December, 2018, at 81 years of age, after serving in that position more than 7 years. He was presented a Certificate of Appreciation at our January Gathering last Saturday. Hopefully he can continue to be one of our very dedicated Road Captains. Skip took the position of Ride Coordinator and worked diligently to improve on an already successful process of Ride Coordinator. He requested Chapter riders take the Road Captain course offered by GWRRA to become certified. He then recruited several additional Road Captains and continually coordinated rides every week among 7 to 8 Road Captains schedules. He also used his effective communication skills to be the primary person who would send emails out to the Chapter regarding weekly rides, Ride to Eat and many other Chapter events. Jack & dina elder Additionally, Skip and his late wife, Joan were Chapter E Couple of the Year for 2011. Joan was also the Sunshine Lady of the Chapter for 5 years from 2010 to 2014. She and Skip have always been positive supporters of GWRRA and Eagle Wings Chapter E. We could all use more Members like them! We are very fortunate in Chapter E to have great enthusiastic members who will volunteer to take Officer and Staff positions and continue to build on the good work of their predecessors as GWRRA continually evolves.

AR District Poker Run 2019 AR District Touring Poker Run The purpose of this touring poker run is to enjoy some of the many interesting sites and rides during the coming year. It begins now and runs through the District Memorial Picnic. Rules for the Poker Run: This Poker Run is only for current members of AR Chapters in 2019 There are ten sites that have been selected from a list of suggestions by each Chapter of interesting locations located in Arkansas. Participants must submit a hard copy photo taken at these sites during 2019. The photo must include the designated site, you, your bike, and a copy of Wing World magazine or Gold Book. You must be in the photo, so make plans to ride with another member or find a volunteer to take your picture or a selfie. Get interested members in your Chapter to visit other Chapters and get your Picture while in that area. For each photo submitted, the participant will get to draw one playing card. If you turn in all 10 sites, you will draw 10 cards. You will build your best 5 card poker hand from the cards drawn. (No Jokers and Aces will count High and Low). In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by cutting cards. Each member must draw his or her own cards or predetermined designee. The drawing of poker hands will be at the end of the 2019 Memorial Picnic. Prizes will be announced later. We are soliciting motorcycle dealers to donate prizes. It is possible to win without making all 10 sites, so get on your bike, ride and take some pictures. Photo sites for 2019 Poker Run 1. Lake DeGray State Park Lodge, 2027 State Park Entrance Road, Bismarck, AR 71929 2. Photos sites 2 thru 10 TBD when the Districts provide their photo sites
2019 Chapter E Polar Bear Ride Jan 2019 The 2019 Chapter E Polar Bear Ride was another great success. Not as many people as in some years but 26 brave souls defied the weather and rode to the event. We had a great meal with all the New Year s traditions provided at the DeGray Lake State Park Lodge. As in all recent years, Skip Klink organized and led the ride. This year it was about 35 degrees when we started, a heat wave compared to last year when it was 14 degrees when we left the Hot Springs Starbucks with only 4 bikes and the rest in 4 wheelers. A great time was had by all with lots of discussion during lunch. This was also our first stop on our newest event, 2019 Poker Run. Don and Valerie rode ahead to get into position to take pictures of each bike and riders as they rolled into the Lodge parking lot. Each person was handed a Gold Wing Magazine to hold while their picture was being taken with the Lodge in the background as required by the Poker Run rules. This was our first Poker Run stop so everyone who was there on their bikes already had their first picture on the Poker Run. Looking forward to our 2020 Polar Bear Run! What could we do to make it better next year? By: Don Hewett

The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rear view mirror. People ask us why we ride a motorcycle. For those who have experienced the joy, no explanation is necessary; for those who have not, no explanation is possible. I'd rather be riding my motorcycle and thinking about God, than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle. Four wheels move the body; two wheels move the soul. Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle. Life may begin at 30, but it doesn't get real interesting until about 60 mph! You start the game of life with a full pot o' luck and an empty pot o' experience. The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck. If you wait, all that happens is that you get older.
