Looking forward to seeing all of you at our membership meeting on Thursday night. The weather is starting to cooperate to let us begin metal detecting. If you missed going to the Polley Mansion Plantation hunt you missed a real good time. 60 detectorists showed up from various metal detecting clubs from all over the state. Lots of neat items were found and Ali won 1st place for the token category. Be there on Thursday night as I present him with WHAT he won. I'm going to try to include some words of inspiration in each of my President's Blurb...This month "Happiness depends upon ourselves. Jim Lawhon 2018 Dues are due! $20. If you write a check, make it to Scott Hegel (not AMDC, as we do not have a DBA.) Get dues in by Feb. to get card for Show

February Meeting We have an exciting program this month! Scott Jacobsmeyer, Josh Graham, Ali Vassef and Scott Wilkins will be sharing more news about their metal detecting trip to England and showing us their finds. It has been a number of months since they went on the trip, and they have recently had the items found sent to them from England. Do plan to come and see the treasures! We will have our Find of the Month competition featuring items found since the January meeting. The FOM form is the last page of this newsletter, and Daniel and Susie will have copies at the meeting. Reminder Josh Graham will be collecting recyclables, so bring any you have been saving. Executive Meeting Our meetings are the first Thursdays of most months, at 6:00. We will meet at the Bill Miller s at 709 E. Ben White (right at I-35). All are welcome at any Board meetings. We usually come early to visit and grab a bite; the meeting begins at 6:00. TAMDC SHOW! AMDC will have a booth at the Annual Treasure show which is being held in Temple again this year on April 20-22. Set up is on Friday April 20, and we need to have things set up by 3:00. This year they will open the show to the public from 5:00-9:00 on Friday, and have added a Night Hunt for us to add to the fun! Susie and members of the Board are brain storming about IDEAS for our booth. We need your ideas see any Board member. NEW! AMDC For Sale Table Beginning this month there will be a table available for members to sell items they no longer want or need. We are limiting the items to metal detectors and detecting accessories. If you are interested, bring you item, with a card or small sign with the name of the item, price you want to sell it for, and your name. If you are selling, you may want to bring change, and/or decide whether you would accept checks. We will try this to see how it goes. You may still list items for sale to be listed in the Newsletter let Blaine know what you have. AMDC is on Face Book! Be sure and check out and Like the Group Be sure and check the Face Book page often, as we put pictures and news of club goings on.

Old Stage Coach Inn James Clarey had been in contact with the staff/volunteers to keep abreast of the building move. At this point the actual move of the Inn is a few months out. We hope to be able to detect the site the building is being moved TO, as well as the site after the building is moved. James will keep us appraised. Polley Mansion Detecting Project On Saturday, Jan. 13, several members of AMDC attended the metal detecting hunt as part of TAMDC s Giving Back effort. There were about 60 detectorists from a number of clubs who came out to hunt the grounds around the historic Polley Belle Mansion in LaVernia. All items found were collected and displayed on the porch. Quite an interesting variety! Micheal Heim, TAMDC President, had some prizes and there was a raffle for fun Ali Vassef won a prize for the old token he found. Daniel won $94. In the 50/50 Pot, and Blaine won a silver round. A follow-up hunt will be planned in the future, to focus on locating the slave quarters and privies. Here are a few pics.

Lost and Found Efforts Since the last report the Search Team has been working on one search that involved multiple searches. A young lady contacted us for help in locating a gold heirloom pendant necklace at Austin Rugby Club s Burr fields, The team determined that the Club was private, and Paul made contact to get permission. On the first attempt Paul, Fred, Dennis, Mary, Jim, Scott H. and Blaine came to search. Paul had the fields gridded for each of us to work. After a long day, we did not uncover the necklace. Follow-up searches were done, and last Thursday Scott Hegel found the pendant, and Fred uncovered the chain a few feet away. The necklace was not in the area we were first searching. Another call to the owner provided the team with more detail of possible activities and places she was in when the necklace fell off. Here are two pics. You can see how cool this necklace is! GOOD JOB, Scott, Fred and Team! Many thanks to those who serve on these searches. It takes a lot of time and effort to go out, but it is always appreciated even if the item(s) are not located.

AMDC Website Remember to check our web site often to see what s there! Our web site is: http://www.amdconline.com Newsletter Contest! We continue our drawing for a prize at the meetings. If you can answer the mystery question correctly taken from information in the newsletter, your name may be drawn. Good luck!
