Also in attendance will be: Chris Harrington, Bev Sweezie, and Aimee Sparzynski A. CALL TO ORDER 1. Provision for disclosure of pecuniary interest. None. 2. Minutes of the Library Board Meeting held on February 18, 2014 Moved by Dave Jones Seconded by Warden Vanderheyden That the Minutes of the Middlesex County Library Board meeting held on February 18, 2014 be approved as presented. 3. Visioning Topic Area Librarians Power point presentation by Chris Harrington, Bev Sweezie, and Aimee Sparzynski B. ACTION ITEMS 1. Family Day 2014 and Patricia Wallace, Children s Librarian Moved by Marie Kingma Seconded by Dave Jones That Family Day programming at Middlesex County Library remain a priority in 2015 with similar open branch open hours and staffing levels utilized in 2014.

Accessibility Plan for Middlesex County Library That the Library Board formally adopt and include Middlesex County`s Accessibility Plan in the Library Board Policy Manual Appendix B. 3. Healthy Kids Community Challenge Report from Cindy Howard, Director of Social Services and Julie Gonyou, County Librarian Moved by Dave Jones That the Middlesex County Library Board endorse the Middlesex County application to the Healthy Kids Community Challenge for funding which will be used to reduce the incidence of overweight and obese children. Note: Middlesex County Council appointed Warden Vanderheyden as the local Community Champion per the project guidelines; and approved any funding for the local Project Manager position. 4. Facility Size Standards That the Library Board continue to utilize the ARUPLO guidelines while working with local municipalities to determine appropriate size of current and proposed facilities, while keeping in mind that additional space may be required for anticipated future population growth, itinerant service providers, programming space and other unassignable library space. Information Services Usage Statistics February Accounts Payable to March 13, 2014 totalling $97, Newspaper articles concerning Middlesex County libraries

County Librarian Update March Employment and Government Information Services Activity Report February 2014 Report from Lindsay Brock, Library Services Manager 7. Update: Changes to CNIB Library Program 8. Letter from the Minister of International Development responding to our letter; and advising that the issue of government funding for the Community Access Program falls under the purview of the Ministry of Industry 9. Copy of a report from the Municipality of Thames Centre with respect to the Dorchester Library Expansion Proposal 10. Ontario Public Libraries 2011 Statistics Moved by Warden Vanderheyden Seconded by Lynn Humfress-Trute That Items C.1 LIB through C.10 LIB be received for information. D. INQUIRIES 1. Glencoe Library Vance Blackmore attended the TVDSB Accommodations Review Committee (ARC) meeting held in March in Glencoe. He noted that 9 members were present, and the motion to move the public library into the high school was moved unanimously. 2. Book Bag Distribution Marie Kingma requested additional information about the book bags being distributed in Middlesex County by the Strathroy and Area Welcome Wagon and Middlesex County Childrens Services Network. 3. Southern Ontario Library Service Dave Jones reminded Board members to complete the survey distributed via by Southern Ontario Library Service regarding future library challenges and needs and the anticipated support of SOLS in upcoming years.

Wireless at Basic Branches Vance Blackmore asked for an update on when wireless access points would be installed at Wardsville, Newbury, Delaware, Coldstream and Melbourne Libraries. Patrons have suggested to the Library Board and staff that it is a community expectation that wireless internet services be available at all library locations in Middlesex County. The County Librarian reported that an update received from the IT department indicated that this project would be completed the spring Cultural Development Grants Lynn Humfress-Trute noted that the Federation of Ontario Public Libraries (FOPL) and Ontario Library Board Association were recipients of Cultural Development grants and specifically that FOPL will be using this funding to enhance Board training material available to public libraries. Staff were given direction to proceed in the closed session. F.
