1 Bookmarking in LexisNexis Congressional Congressional Publications Advanced Search: To bookmark the Advanced Search page use: Searching within a specific field (using the pulldown menus) There are three pulldown menus, one after each box. In the URL syntax, they are select 1, select 2, and select 3. A URL to search all fields including full text after the 2 nd box would be: For the other menu options, use the word in CAPS listed below for the word ALL in the example above. For example, setting up an Author field search for reports will not work. So please check any combinations you set up. To bookmark specific document types, use the base URL and add the text below the document type. 2 For multiple document types bookmarked, simply add srcboxes=documenttype& after the first ampersand. For example, for Hearings and Committee Prints use: ngs&srcboxes=comprints&daterestrictioncontrol=all Dates To change the DATES in the search, use the following text after the 2nd equals sign in the URL Before 1970: PRIOR70 Previous 5 years: 5:YR Since 1970: SINCE70 Previous 10 years: 10:YR Previous 2 years: 2:YR Previous 20 years: 20:YR Example: Committee Prints for the previous 5 years ints&daterestrictioncontrol=5:yr To change the dates to other than the default tabs, use the following base URL lset& Date is Between (note different formatting of the from and to dates): DateRestrictionControl=DATEBETWEEN&from_mo=Nov&from_yr=1945&to_mo=Dec&to_dy =31&to_yr=1960 Date is Before DateRestrictionControl=DATEBEFORE&to_dy=31&to_yr=1960 Date is After DateRestrictionControl=DATEAFTER&from_yr=1945 To combine a search for a specific title, with a full text search, in hearings, before Dec. 31, 1950, the URL would look like the following: ITLE- ALL&select2=ALL&srcboxes=Hearings&DateRestrictionControl=DATEBEFORE&to_mo =Dec&to_dy=31&to_yr=1950 Congress To restrict by a specific congress, s=91 However after the 99 th Congress, the congress number needs an exclamation mark after the number. For example: ongno&congress=100!

3 Serial Set Only options For institutions that have purchased the LexisNexis Serial Set Digital Collection, there are a number of options available to take advantage of the documents types there. To set up the search to search the American State Papers only, the following URL is used: SerialSet&ssoption=American State Papers&ssopen=Y To search one of the other document types, substitute the term noted below for the highlighted section of the URL above.
