In the first week of our campaign, 33 Libraries' employees have contributed a total of $4027. Many thanks to everyone who has already contributed. If you haven't sent in your Pledge Card, there is still plenty of time (December 8th). You can send them to Noelle Lydic (MOD, ), Bruce Leach (BPL, ), or drop them off in Library Human Resources (where there is a temporary 'mailbox'). If you have any questions about how to fill out your Pledge Card, please give us a call. Even if you cannot contribute, please return your Pledge Card so we know when to stop sending out reminders. The names of all contributors will automatically be entered into our drawing for prizes donated by local merchants. The first drawing will be held on Friday, November 3rd, so get your pledge in soon. Remember, if we ALL help, we can make a difference! 8 Everyone is welcome to attend, and the event is FREE of charge, but please make reservations with Judy Wagner at or *Central Ohio Chapter, American Society for Information Science & Technology Features A Fund Raiser's Creed: Don't Forget the Thank You's University Libraries has acquired a much needed fund raiser in Kaye Madden. She will be helping Friends of the Libraries and University Development to raise a tidy sum of money for the renovation of the William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library (Main Library). Her assignment here is to help raise the private sector piece of the $60 to $100 million for the renovation of William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library. (8 of 18) [6/22/2007 2:35:45 PM]
9 Kaye comes to Ohio State from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she increased the annual fund income from $2.1 million to $3.1 million in five years. She also solicited major gift donors residing in Ohio, Chicago, and Washington, DC. and helped launch a major gift program supporting Ohio Wesleyan's Woltemade Center for Economics, Business, and Entrepreneur ship. Kaye also worked for the American Lung Association of Ohio for five years. She successfully initiated an annual major gifts campaign within the organization's medical section, the Ohio Thoracic Society, in which member physicians contributed to a new endowment fund benefiting lung research. With her inimitable touch of class, Kay also launched a new annual gala in 1995 to supplement this campaign. The funds to realize the renovation of the Main Library must come from public sources and the private sector. Kaye's experience with raising money has been with the private sector, where she hopes to raise $20 to $30 million for OSU. The most gratifying part of her job is meeting so many people who are willing to give for a good cause. "Everyone's support is needed. Each and (9 of 18) [6/22/2007 2:35:45 PM]
10 every gift is important." Kaye has a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University and an M.A. in public policy and management from The Ohio State University.
