1 1 BOROUGH OF HASBROUCK HEIGHTS M I N U T E S - REORGANIZATION MEETING JANUARY 2, 2018 Oath of Office was administered to Councilman Justin DiPisa by Mark DiPisa, Esq. Oath of Office was administered to Councilman Christopher Hillmann by Assemblyman Tim Eustace. Freeholder Sullivan from the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders presented Commendations to Councilman DiPisa and Councilman Hillmann in honor of their being sworn in. On behalf of the County Executive, Mark Shrieks offered his congratulations to Councilman DiPisa and Councilman Hillmann. The Reorganization Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights was held on January 2, 2018 at 6:25 pm, at Borough Hall, 320 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. Mayor DeLorenzo declared the 2018 Reorganization Meeting in session and Acting Borough Clerk Laurie Varga stated that the meeting complied with the Sunshine Law, due notice having been made to all members of the Council by personal service on December 29th, 2017, and transmitted to The Record and the Herald News on December 19th, ROLL CALL: Present: Mayor John DeLorenzo III, Councilman Ron Kistner, Councilman Justin DiPisa, Councilwoman Josephine Ciocia, Councilman Russell Lipari, Councilman Chris Hillmann Absent: None SALUTE TO THE FLAG AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Mayor DeLorenzo led in the Salute to the Flag and Pledge of Allegiance. SINGING OF GOD BLESS AMERICA: Conchita Parker led in the singing of God Bless America. INVOCATION: The Invocation was offered by Reverend Patrick M. Mulewski, Pastor of Corpus Christi R.C. Church.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT NOMINATION: Mayor DeLorenzo asked if there was a motion to nominate a council member as Council President for the year Councilman DiPisa made a motion to nominate Councilman Lipari, which was seconded by Councilwoman Ciocia, and was unanimously carried. COUNCIL MEMBER TO PLANNING BOARD: Mayor DeLorenzo asked if there was a nomination of a council member to the Planning Board. Councilwoman Ciocia nominated Councilman Kistner as representative to the Planning Board which was seconded by Councilman Hillmann and unanimously carried. MAYOR DELORENZO: Mayor Delorenzo welcomed Councilman Hillmann and welcomed back Councilman DiPisa and looks forward to accomplishing things in the coming year. He thanked the Borough Employees and the Members of the Council for their support. He noted that the Police Department does an outstanding job serving our community. He went on to mention the large number of volunteers that we have in the community and specifically
12 12 praised the Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Squad members that give us so much of their time. He pledged to give 100% and work with the members of Council and the Borough Officials to move Hasbrouck Heights towards the future. MISCELLANEOUS FROM COUNCIL: Mayor DeLorenzo invited the Council to speak: Councilwoman Ciocia welcomed Councilman Hillmann to the Council and congratulated Councilman DiPisa on his re-election. She reminisced back to the prior year when she and Councilman Kistner were sworn in and wished everyone a happy and healthy New Year. Councilman Kistner echoed Councilwoman Ciocia s sentiments and welcomed Councilman Hillmann Councilman DiPisa thanked everyone for having the trust and confidence in him to grant his re-election. He thanked his wife and family for their support. He noted that he enjoys working with the Mayor and Council and appreciates new ideas and opinions and new ways to look at things and welcomed Councilman Hillmann. He went on to say that the Mayor and Council are all there for the best interest of the town. Councilman Lipari welcomed Councilman Hillmann. He indicated that 2017 was a tough year and thanked everyone for their support in electing him to Council President. Councilman Hillmann stated that he looked forward to learning a lot and thanked his Husband, Patrick, for being there and thanked Constantina for filming him. He looks forward to serving and meeting a lot of new people. MISCELLANEOUS FROM THE PUBLIC: Mayor DeLorenzo asked for a motion to open the meeting to the public which was made by Councilman Lipari, seconded by Councilman DiPisa and unanimously carried. A resident came forward to say that she thinks the Boulevard looks wonderful. She indicated that there was an added feature, holiday music on the Boulevard is very nice. There being no one else wishing to speak, Mayor DeLorenzo requested a motion to close the public hearing which was made by Councilman DiPisa, seconded by Councilwoman Ciocia, and unanimously carried. BENEDICTION: The Benediction was given by Reverend Patrick M. Mulewski, Pastor of Corpus Christi R.C. Church. Mayor DeLorenzo invited everyone into the Senior Center for refreshments.
