1 FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP REORGANIZATION MEETING MINUTES JANUARY 3, :30 P.M. At 6:05 p.m. the Township Committee met in the Municipal Building to review the agenda for the 2014 Reorganization Meeting. Mayor McMorrow read the following statement: In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Law, (c. 231 P.L. 1975), this meeting was announced on November 13, 2013 by posting a notice on the bulletin board in the Municipal Building reserved for that purpose; by mailing such notice to the offices of the official newspapers of the Township and by filing such notice with the Township Clerk. Committeeman Golub was absent. Mayor McMorrow gave out assignments for the meeting. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER At 6:30 P.M. Mayor McMorrow called the Reorganization Meeting to order. ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS ACT Mayor McMorrow re-read the following statement: In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Law, (c. 231 P.L. 1975), this meeting was announced on November 13, 2013 by posting a notice on the bulletin board in the Municipal Building reserved for that purpose; by mailing such notice to the offices of the official newspapers of the Township and by filing such notice with the Township Clerk. MOMENT OF SILENCE/SALUTE TO FLAG Mayor McMorrow welcomed Konnor Fahy, Zach Simon and Hunter Haber, Boy Scouts from Troop #155 of the West Freehold School, PTO, Monmouth Council, Battleground District to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.. APPOINTMENT OF TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN Mr. Ammiano nominated Peter Valesi to serve as Temporary Chairman, seconded by Mr. Cook. VOTE: AYES: Mr. Ammiano, Mr. Cook, Mr. Salkin and Mayor McMorrow Temporary Chairman Valesi asked for a roll call. ROLL CALL On roll call the following Township Committee members were present: Committeeman Anthony J. Ammiano, Committeeman Thomas L. Cook, Committeeman David M. Salkin and Mayor Barbara J. McMorrow Absent: Committeeman Eugene B. Golub

2 Also present: Robert Munoz, Township Attorney, Peter Valesi, Township Administrator, Patricia Hopkins, Public Information Officer, Theresa Patino, Deputy Township Clerk and Teresa Warner, Township Clerk. Chairman Valesi called for the Oath of Office to be administered to Committeewoman McMorrow, for her reelection at the last General Election to a three year term on the Township Committee Monmouth County Freeholder Arnone, administered the Oath of Office to Committeewoman McMorrow. ELECTION OF MAYOR Chairman Valesi called for nominations to fill the Office of Mayor for Mr. Ammiano nominated Mr. Salkin to serve as mayor of Freehold Township in 2014, seconded by Mrs. McMorrow. There were no other nominations. VOTE: AYES: Mr. Ammiano, Mr. Cook, Mrs. McMorrow and Mr. Salkin. OATH OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED TO MAYOR Township Clerk, Mrs. Warner, administered the oath of office to Mayor Salkin. ELECTION OF DEPUTY MAYOR Mayor Salkin called for nominations to fill the Office of Deputy Mayor for Mr. Cook nominated Mr. Ammiano to serve as deputy mayor in 2014, second by Mrs. McMorrow. There were no other nominations. OATH OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED TO DEPUTY MAYOR Township Clerk, Mrs. Warner, administered the oath of office to Deputy Mayor Ammiano. R-14-1 REAPPOINTING CATHERINE M. CAMPBELL AND MARY D. TUFANO AS QUALIFIED PURCHASING AGENTS Mrs. McMorrow read R-14-1 and moved it for adoption, seconded by Mr. Ammiano. R-14-2 REAPPOINTING NICOLE SONNENBLICK AS MUNICIPAL COURT

Salkin (Alternate) Mayor Salkin welcomed and recognized the dignitaries that were in attendance at the meeting from the Senate, the Assembly, Monmouth County Freeholders, Township/Borough Committeewomen and Committeemen from other towns, past and present Mayor s from Freehold Township and other towns and friends and family. Mayor Salkin asked for any comments or questions from the public. There being none, he asked for comments from the dais. Committeeman Cook spoke of his experiences in 2013 as a Committeeman and the many functions and events he was proud to have attended. He expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers on the boards and commissions and thanked them for their dedication. He thanked the employees for providing a high level of service to our residents. He thanked all the volunteer fire departments and first aid who always respond to emergencies. He thanked his wife for her support of his time spent with his commitment to the community. He thanked the members of the Township Committee for being great teachers and mentors to him. Committeeman Ammiano complimented Mayor McMorrow for an outstanding job as Mayor in He thanked Mr. Davison for all his advice and guidance. He thanked the employees of the Township and the residents whom he serves. He thanked his wife for her support and wished everyone a Happy Health New Year. Mr. Valesi thanked the Governing Body and Mayor McMorrow and said it was an honor to serve them. He thanked the Township employees for a great job, especially the Department of Public Works for clearing the snow the past 1 ½ days. He stated it was an honor to work with Mr. Davison and Mr. Munoz. Mr. Munoz wished the Governing Body a great year and Happy and Health New Year to everyone. Committeewoman McMorrow thanked the residents for re-electing her to another term. She said she is grateful for the opportunity to serve them. She thanked the members of the Police Department who do an outstanding job for us 24/7, along with our volunteer firefighters and our volunteer first aid squad. She thanked the Public Works Department who not only clear our streets of snow but last year they were instrumental in saving a life in the Recycling Center. She reviewed the many events she attended last year as Mayor and said it has been a joy. She thanked the many employees of Freehold Township and the Township Committee for all their support; along with Mr. Valesi and Mr. Davison for all their guidance. She thanked her husband and her friends for their understanding. She wished everyone a Happy and Health New Year.

11 Mayor Salkin thanked everyone for braving the weather to come to the meeting. He said is an honor and privilege to serve as mayor of his home town again. He explained why Freehold Township is a great location and how special it is. He thanked everyone for volunteering either as a coach, civic group, church group, as members of the armed services and as employees of the Township. He thanked the Police Department who serves and protects us 24/7, Department of Public Work employees and Mr. Valesi and Ms. Mladinov in Administration. Our staff is above average. We are 20% smaller than we were five years ago and everyone is working harder and doing more, but we work together as a team. He thanked the Township Committee and Mrs. McMorrow for a tremendous job last year as the Mayor. Lastly he thanked his family. Meeting adjourned at 7:24 pm. Teresa Warner, Township Clerk
