3 A call for leadership Dear Friends, I would like to introduce you to the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation. This foundation is a 501(c)3 corporation which operates within the guidelines established by the IRS for all foundations. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide research and training for law enforcement executives as well as a variety of other community-oriented programs such as scholarships, summer youth camps, children s identification kits, law enforcement agency accreditation and more. Without you and your help, this Foundation cannot succeed. Your financial assistance is of immeasurable value. We literally cannot survive without your help. The need for professional law enforcement and the training of law enforcement executives in Indiana are at an all-time high. We at the Foundation are committed to bringing this high level of training and professionalism to our state. Within this brochure, please note the mission statement and goals of the Foundation, as well as the different sponsorship levels from which you and/or your company can choose to participate. In the world we live in today, public safety has never been more important. Mission Statement The mission of the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation is to promote professionalism, training and networking for the law enforcement executive and to enhance public awareness of law enforcement and public safety issues. Goals n To enhance and improve the professionalism of all law enforcement executives. n To provide network opportunities for the exchange of information. n To provide data, administrative support and training to meet the needs of law enforcement executives. n To provide education for public officials and develop public awareness on law enforcement issues. n To provide for an organization dedicated to meeting the needs of law enforcement executives in the State of Indiana. Association Background The Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police can best be defined as an individual member organization consisting of ten local districts within the State. Each District has its own elected two-year representative on the Board of Directors. The Board develops policies and programs for the membership as a whole.

The Foundation needs your commitment to public safety, the citizens, and communities of Indiana. n As our communities evolve, increasing demand on professionalism within law enforcement, greater and more in-depth training of law enforcement officers, particularly those in a command staff position, is not only required, but mandatory. Your contribution will help the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation in the development, creation, and delivery of programs necessary to ensure the highest level of training and professionalism for all law enforcement executives. As we have entered into an age where terrorism, however tragic, is not an event that happens overseas, but is brought to our shores, the need for highly trained and competent leaders throughout public safety becomes substantial. Those responsible for our public safety require and need our assistance. n The youth of our state is without a doubt, our most valuable asset. The Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation has been and will continue to be an organization that sponsors summer youth camps for at-risk children. These children, for maybe the first time in their lives, experience the positive side of law enforcement and public safety. With the provided one-on-one communication and interaction, they have a chance to break the cycle and become productive members of our community. n The Indiana Association of Chiefs Police Foundation has long supported child identification. Who can imagine the horror of a missing child? With proper non-invasive identification markers, the law enforcement community can be that much closer to ensuring that a missing child does not become a family tragedy. n The research done by the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation has become crucial to police departments, as well as city and town councils, in developing the infrastructure necessary to guarantee the public safety of each and every community within the state. The Foundation spends significant energy and dollars in developing and/or assisting research projects to provide this data. n At the Foundation, we fully recognize that public safety is not a function of federal law enforcement agencies or state, county, and municipal law enforcement agencies. It is, however, a function of the blending cooperation and intelligence-sharing of all of these agencies. We work diligently to ensure that cooperation, inneragency communication on behalf of the safety of every individual and citizen within the state of Indiana..Your contribution can help maintain and continue this vital work.
