1 Courses for international students in the academic year 2018/2019 Department of Social Sciences 2018/2019 KVS/YVSSQ Development of State Administration and Self-Government in the Czech Lands Completion requirements: 70% attendance Lecturer: Pavel Krákora Goal of subject is get to know students with the development of state administration and selfgovernment in the Czech Lands with the accent of sphere of education. In this relation will be following the most important aspects and changes internal organization of the Czech Lands since early Middle Age. Special attention will be pay period after the year KVS/YEVSQ Modern European Statehood Completion requirements: 80 % attendance Lecturer: Pavel Krákora Goal of subject is get to know students with the most important events, documents and personalities of European history of 20th Century in relation of formation the modern statehood and proces of European integration after the KVS/YEVDQ Significant Chapters of European History Completion requirements: 80 % attendance Lecturer: Pavel Krákora Goal of subject is get to know student with the most important periods of European history with the aim to capture their relation to contemporary form of European society and culture. After the finishing will be students able to: - clarify relation of particular periods of European history to formation of contemporary Europe - characterize the most importatnt turning points of European history - considering the role of particular historical periods in European history - explain causes of European integration - analyse and evaluate the impact of historical events on the contemporary shape of Europe

2 KVS/YKSPQ Conflicts in the Contemporary Society Completion requirements: 70% attendance Lecturer: David Hampl The seminar is devoted to the problems of conflicts and their wider context, with an emphasis on religious and ethnic conflicts. Students learn to analyze conflicts in the world today. After completing the course, students should be able to: - Define the typology of conflicts - Clarify the main conflicts currently - Characterize ethnic conflicts - Explain the issue of genocide KVS/YHZ1Q - History of Czech Lands 1 Completion requirements: 70% attendance Lecturer: Pavel Kopeček Samo's Empire and Great Moravia. Czech state in 10th-12th century. Czech state during the reign of the Luxemburg. Czech lands during George of Poděbrady and Jagelović. Advent to power of the Habsburgs. Czech uprising, the Thirty Years War and. Czech country at the time of enlightened absolutism. The Habsburg monarchy at the time of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic wars. Czech National Revival. Revolutionary years KVS/YHZ2Q - History of Czech Lands 2 Completion requirements: 70 % attendance Lecturer: Pavel Kopeček World War I and the establishment of Czechoslovakia. I. and II. Czechoslovak Republic - political, economic and cultural development. II. world war, occupation and liberation of Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia in the postwar world, the establishment of the communist system. 60s of the 20th century in Czechoslovakia, the Prague Spring and normalization. 80s of the 20th century in Czechoslovakia, the end of the totalitarian regime and the dissolution of Czechoslovakia.

At the seminar will analyze selected issues in international relations with emphasis on the role of international organizations and conflict resolution After completing the course, students should be able to: - Define basic concepts - Clarify the functioning of the international political system - Characterize the issue of international organizations KVS/YPMUL Multiculturalism Intercultural Education Number of ECTS credits: 2 Course completion: Exam Completion requirements: 80% attendance Lecturer: Gabriela Cingelová The starting points and changes in multicultural education and introduction to projects, dealing with the issues of multi and intercultural education. Working with activation and experiential methods. Communicating with minorities, ethnic conflict resolution, curriculum design in civics, action plan for a multicultural school. KVS/YEPS Political Systems Completion requirements: 80% attendance Lecturer: Gabriela Cingelová The course explains important concepts of political science. In each topic the students will be provided with fundamental issues and disciplines of political science. Particularly with the structures, processes and roles of political systems. 1. Political system Czech Republic KPG/YLATQ Law for Teachers Completion requirements: 70% attendance Lecturer: Zdenka Nováková This cource is aimed at increasing legal consciousness, cognition basic of legal thinking, basic legal institutes, rules and relationships which adjust organization, development education, labour relationships and ability to be knowledgeable in legal codification in continuity of legal condition of law relationships which persons meet in society. KPG/YLEGI Legislation in Educational System in Czech Schools Completion requirements: 70% attendance Lecturer: Zdenka Nováková This course discusses the legislative regulation of Czech education system, focus on educational programs, education system of schools and school facilities and the effect of teaching staff including prerequisities performance of teachers such as legal capacity, professional qualification, integrity, medical fitness and knowledge of Czech language. KPG/YAGSE Government in the Sphere of Education Completion requirements: 70% attendance Lecturer: Zdenka Nováková This course discribe system of public administration and self-government in area of education such as the Ministry Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Czech School Inspectorate and regional institutions in the field of education.

5 KVS/YDNAQ History of Religion Completion requirements: 70% attendance Lecturer: Giuseppe Maiello The course focuses on an overview on world religions and their role in the contemporary world. After completing the course, students should be able to: - Define basic religionistic terms, - Clarify the historical background and cultural context in the early stages of forming religions, - Explain the essence of each religion, - Characterize typical individual signs and manifestations of religions, - Compare various conceptions of the history of religions, - Critically evaluates information given by today's media on various religions. KVS/YSOCQ Sociology Number of ECTS credits: 4 Course completion: Colloquy Completion requirements: 70% attendance Lecturer: Giuseppe Maiello The objective of the lectures is to present the fundamental paradigms of sociological thinking and the fundamental terms used for description of social reality. The objective of the seminars is to introduce terms from primary sociological sources and perspectives of various theories on social reality. KVS/YGHIQ Gender in the Historical Context Number of ECTS credits: 3 Course completion: Pre-Exam Credit Completion 70% attendance Lecturer: Tomáš Hubálek requirements: The seminar will offer an unusual view of the development and changes in the company's approach to the issue of gender. It is set in a historical framework, which will highlight the main concerns of various epochs and describes ways to solve them in history from antiquity to the present. Will be accentuated most significant historical milestones, influencing corporate behavior, shifts in thinking and behavior of people in this area.

6 KVS/YAEVQ Applied Ethics in Education for Citizens Number of ECTS credits: 3 Course completion: Exam Completion requirements: 70 % attendance Lecturer: Tomáš Hubálek Winter semester The course will be emphasis on areas of applied ethics, which relate to the current educational reality, society and democracy. Students will become familiar with various parts of social life, and their links with the ethical theories, learn important values for specific areas and will be able to specify examples of ethical behavior in a context. KVS/YPEKO Economy Completion requirements: 70 % attendance Lecturer: Alena Opletalová The course Economics analyzes cooperation and situations, which appear among consumers, companies and the state. We start with microeconomics, continue with macroeconomics and economic policy, use examples from the practice and the current situation in our country and the world.
