Halal Concept, legislation system, mutual recognition of Halal certificates Conclusion Introduction Attention standardization began in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in the mid-seventies in the last century, starting with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and began to coordinate activity of standardization in the Gulf in the early eighties when the establishment of standards and metrology of the Organization for Cooperation Council (GCC) on May 17, 1984, where was to take care of issuing standards on the level of the Council and in accordance with the possibilities available and the need for that stage of coordination and cooperation GSO Standards 2
3 GSO GSO in brief A regional organization established under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) ; Based on Decision of the GCC Supreme Council, Muscat, December, 2001). Facilitation of the intra GCC trade as well as international trade through elimination of technical barriers to trade Serving the needs and requirements of the GCC Customs Union and single entry point. Formulation, preparation and publication of Gulf Standards and Technical Regulations ; Formulation of Gulf Conformity Assessment Procedures, legal and industrial Metrology, Quality and other related standardization activities on the GCC level. 7 Basics when preparing Gulf Standards This standard covers the technical regulations, most of the major economic sectors. Does not develop a standard and if there is a national draft Gulf Standard work in progress. Should not cause Gulf Standards any technical barriers. Prepared the technical committees of the Gulf through the principle of the General Agreement between the partners. Adopt technical regulations by the Board of Directors and adopt standards by the Technical Council and is published every state legal instrument for adoption at the national level. Often, the Gulf standard be adopted national standards, regional or international. Member States after the adoption of standards and technical regulations Gulf adopting nationally. Stakeholders involvement in GSO activates Stakeholders Allow the participation of the parties concerned and interested standards both the public and private sectors (Stakeholders) and through the national standardization bodies of Member States, to contribute to the following: Participate in the work of the technical committees or sub Gulf or task forces. Participation in the activities of the National Technical Committees Member States and the corresponding technical committees Gulf. Propose draft standards and technical regulations Gulf that have a high priority and urgent need. Contributing study projects standards and technical regulations Gulf Technical and comments during the specified period. 7
